Do what I did when I had a large breed.  Go to tesco or wilkos and buy a ceramic dish like what you make lasagne in, you can get some really shallow pirex ones as well if they cant reach over the side.

In Jollyes or any large pet outlet you shoudl be able to find flat 12 inch stainless steel feedign pans/dishes.  I use two of these, and start with a smaller one when they first go onto solids.

> buy a ceramic dish like what you make lasagne in

Exactly what I did for my puppyboy. The usual dishes were too deep for his flat face and would put him off eating. The ceramic, I think they're called gratin, dishes are perfect for him :)

go to the garden centre and buy the plant pot base's that normally collect the water under the pot. they are cheap to buy.

All sizes available and you can get rectangle ones so you can have pups reach the middle without the need to wade completely in!

I recently bought some 8 inch ones that were in stock and quite cheap, don't know if these are big enough though?
- By LoisLane Date 31.08.08 20:15 UTC
I got some of these from a car boot sale last week 25p each. I bought the 3 they had. They are just the job for me and in brill condition. I had a very good buy there. :-)

- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 15:41 UTC
Yes they do seem to loose a little condition when they are weaning, i started mine on mince & tripe, now slowly they are on dry (soaked) food and a little tripe and mince, just a spoonful now, its a slow process but they getting there, mum doesnt go in quite as often now, they seem content enough.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.09.08 15:55 UTC
how old are yours annastasia ?
- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 17:37 UTC
Hi, they were 4 weeks old yesterday, not quite as chunky but still bonny if you know what i mean Tiger Lily.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.09.08 19:09 UTC
lol (tiger lily) thats going to sick now ;) how many meals do u give them ?
- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 19:24 UTC
i give them 4 meals a day, sometimes 5 if i can fit it in, sometimes they dont finish meal number 5, but i like to give them the opportunity just in case someone didnt eat much at another meal. Mum will always eat it if they dont, she is so greedy at the moment bless her

- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 20:54 UTC
A friend of mine who has been in our breed 30 years, (told me to start 1 of my past litters struggling to feed )  on raw mince and minced tripe, i too was tearing my hair out, it worked wonders they wolfed it down, i had been trying puppy porridge, weaning flakes and mashed dry food, the mince and tripe got them going, then after a week i started to add dry soaked puppy food, good luck, you are having a bad time with this litter hun, hope they eat soon
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.09.08 21:09 UTC
yes its been a nightmare from mum being a week off having them ,ive got some frozen mince shell i scramble some egg with it ? how long does frozen mince take to defrost (im blond and very tired )lol
- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 21:25 UTC
Have you got a microwave hun? it doesnt take long, i buy it in bags frozen, its easier to use,  and you can just defrost small amounts, if you cant get it defrosted tonight leave it out overnight aand give it to them in the morning, not sure about the egg? the tripe you can buy frozen minced in a bag from pets at home, smells horrid but they love it. Once they are starting to eat properly you should be ok.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.09.08 21:44 UTC
im getting some out now and il defrost in micro now there waking up , thankyou x
- By annastasia [gb] Date 06.09.08 21:51 UTC

- By annastasia [gb] Date 18.09.08 18:28 UTC
Hows pups eating White lilly?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.09.08 06:24 UTC
HI ANNASTASIA ,well lol ok but id like them to eat alittle more then thay are !!! ive got them on james wellbeloved ,thay didnt seem interested so after a few days ive started adding a very small amount of the wet food to it and thats done the trick ;) , mum is still feeding them morning and night  thay are having 5meals but dont eat alot ? tried all ways of socking lots ....with milk ....just water ....coming up 2 6weeks now , 2 more weeks and they will be going id like them to be eating more than thay are ? any help? xx
- By Brainless [gb] Date 19.09.08 10:00 UTC
Why do you want them eating more?  Are they thin?
If not by pushing more food into them they will just get upset stomachs.  Loose stools in young pups are often caused from over eating.

If they are a bit small then pushing more food at them won't make them grow faster they will catch up later .
- By annastasia [gb] Date 19.09.08 10:22 UTC
They will get there White Lilly, as is said giving them too much will make them loose, i am guilty of that sometimes portion wise, ours 2 are 6 weeks old and strong chunky puppies, they are fed Happy Dog and seem to love it.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.09.08 10:47 UTC
thay are looking a little thin !!! none of them have the runs there poo is furm but not to hard ,thay are due to be wormed on tues so could be that ,thay did eat well just now and have all fell to sleep ,havnt been doing that before so thay must be full now ,im letting bea feed them 1st thing in a morning and last thing at night now (last night was 1st time she wasnt with them ) so i think they were getting alot of mum from mum still !! ,she is not to well and vet as told me to only let her feed them at this times ,she needs building up now ,i may have to stop her feeding over the next few days she is getting run down and lost sooooo much weight shes just not eating enough to keep up with them now ,bless her all she does is sleep !!! vet has checked her and she is ok apart from them draining her !!
- By annastasia [gb] Date 19.09.08 11:18 UTC
Yes they do get drained quickly, our girl is hardly feeding them now, they could be filling up on milk rather than solids, im going to worm my monsters now, they wont be happy, ha ha!
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.09.08 11:27 UTC
;) bless um there faces when there done !!! :)
- By annastasia [gb] Date 19.09.08 12:18 UTC
I know they hate it, i tell them its for their own good so they wont get poorly. cant believe they are this age already, time flies. their dads owner been again today he blown away with the confidence,
Good luck with yours hun
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.09.08 14:06 UTC
