Earlier today I thought I saw a man pass my house in a canoe singing the song from Hawaii Five-O. I live on a hill LOL
At noon half the roads in our town were flooded. I've never seen rain like it!
There was over a foot of water out the front of Asda in Merthyr! My daughter ran into it, didn't see it till too late! LOL good job she has a sense of humour or we'd have fallen out I laughed so much!
The BBC news said 40mm fell for us of a certain age thats 2.5 inches.
My OH is taking me to a rugby match tomorrow high winds and rain forcast - Oh Joy!!

It's stopped here now but rained for a good 7 hours. I hate the British weather
Rain? What rain? ;-) It's been dry all day up here in windy Scotland :-D Maybe the wind has blown it all away. :-)
Hope everyone is safe, though. There was a lot of talk about floods on the news earlier.

Stopped raining for long enough to collect the children from school - that's a first!
But non-stop ever since and torrential at times :( We have thunder and lightning to look forward to for tonight - lovely!

It hasn't stopped raining here :(
Likewise the dogs keep giving me foul looks everytime I shoo them outside for a pee.
Had to light the fire which hasnt been needed for ages (I live in an old house with no luxury of central heating, so have umpteen open fires instead)
Hope it dries out a bit for our next show otherwise out come the wellies again :(
Emma
It has not stopped raining since i got up this morning...and has been raining very hard too. I usually dont go shopping unless i have fairly tidy clothes on, but today I went out in wellies! i have never been to marks and spencer in wellies before :-D

ha ha thats great! thats something i would do! :-D
its rained non stop all day here in north wales too :-( i have a very small stream that runs down the side of our cottage....well today its a river!!! its so deep! and its running really fast ,im going to be bursting for a wee all night listening to it! :-D

But doesn't all this rain make the dogs fur soft?
Just watched the news with pictures of the floods. It must be heartbreaking for the people whose homes are ruined because of this weather. Thank heaven that my home is about 20 feet above a stream so there is no way I'll get flooded out (huge field the other side of the stream, at a much lower level than me ;-) )
Looks like the rain might get here tomorrow, but then again I might be on the fringe of the weather front so might just miss out :-)
Its been raining none stop in Manchester since yesterday, took our katy out this morning and she was not impressed, she hates getting her paws wet

At least it's dry up to now today in Manchester, phew! Hoping it stays that way.
its finally stopped raining in manchester will probably wait till i go horse riding and pour down this afternoon

It has been pouring down here all day (Co. Durham). Our local Agricultural show, with 2 day dog show, is on today and tomorrow, but whilst the show has gone ahead the dog show bit was cancelled. This is the first itme I have ever had to be towed INTO a show car park! The trade stand holders were either furious or almost in tears (those who turned up - lots of empty spaces) There was a good turn out in the sheep and cattle (tough hill farmers up here) but only about a dozen horses visible across all the classes. Lots of roads are a bit flooded, too. At teatime we took the dogs down for a walk towards the river, and found that the river is so swollen that it is about 10 feet higher than normal, covering the woods and shrubbery along side it, and also lapping onto the path we were planning to walk along - just a few feet from some houses. Still raining, too.
rained all week here in b'ham,, none stop tess went up the woods and loved it, i wish she would shake her coat outside the house instead of waiting before she walks throught the front door, bless, im glad i live on a hill, it must be devastating to have your belongings ruined. i thank my lucky stars, im in the city,

Some friends of mine have been camping for the past 3 nights as they were supposed to be performing at the Bestival here on the IOW. The rain has been torrential and a lot of the acts (them included) were cancelled due to the main stage being too wet and dangerous! I picked them up today so they could have a shower and a hot meal then took them back.. you honestly couldn't
pay me to go there, let alone camp.. the whole site is an absolute mud bath, cars stuck and thousands of people covered head to toe in mud - but looking suprisingly happy about it!!
Not for me though, crazy people! :-)

Well I got woken up at 3am this morning to the sound of running water.....we had a leak in the bedroom!!!! Kicked OH out of bed to sort it.
Been at Burghley Horse Trials today and it was just a mud bath round the trade stands.

Ah! That's not how it's being portrayed on the Archers. It looks to be getting steamy there but not because of the rain!
> no it makes mine smelly
Yes the house smells a little whiffy too today!

I've managed to avoid a good soaking on walkies, but I think it may get us today. My girls get lovely fluffly fur from the rain with just a hint of eau de damp sheep until they dry (was supposed to give them their 6 monthly bath this weekend but will try again next weekend as they take far too long to dry in this dampness).
well days on its still raining. i have three afghans here with cabin fever ( got a visitor in addition to my own two). I have just had to get them loads of marrowbones to occupy them and vent their frustrations. The very worst part is that they all need a bath for routine detangling purposes....but how can i face a bath, groom and blow dry when I know they will get so wet again? !!!!!!!!!!

It's raining here again.
The type of rain that you usually see in Singapore or other monsoon prone countries. Straight down and bouncing, a bit like being under a waterfall. This looks like trouble for flood prone districts, it's so sad.

Heard it was raining when I woke up - just a bit so got up quickly and got pup and dogs out to pee. Then when I let them in, it really started :( I just feel like crying now when I hear it :( I used to love the sound of rain :(
Is anyone else getting a headache at the same time as the rain lets loose? I'm sick of taking paracetamol, some days I need that and ibruprofen just to function :( yet as soon as it brightens up I'm better

On saturday I could actually tell where the clouds were from how my head felt - we were inside a shop!!

Yes Dill, I get headaches if there are really heavy clouds, they make my feel really lousy, like you grabbing the paracetamol :(.

It has rained most of today here in Somerset too...boy am I fed up with having to dry off three hulking great Bernese who think it's lovley to go walking in but open the door for them to go for a pee in the garden and they look at me like i'm nuts!!
My neigbour has just picked up his new puppy...an adorable sheltie boy...I keep seeing him out in the garden with an umbrella....ha ha! oh what fun having a new pup in this weather...He must be wondering what he has let himself in for. (May add he did loads of reserch and has choosen really well for his family..a genuine dog lover and a first time owner)
Aileen..in the rain???

I think you must be very sensitive to atmospheric pressue and sense when the low is over head. In this spell of awful weather you must be really suffering. I sometimes get a bad headache when a big low is coming and it only lifts after the thunder passes over.
I really hope this weather gets better soon as some are suffering more than others!
We'll have to keep our chins up 'til then.
