Does any know a good carpet cleaner that gets rid of the smell of urine? I seem to have tried everything from carpet 1001 vanish and shampooing the carpets with a vax cleaner. I can still smell it!

No good cleaner that I know of but after washing the carpet or rug do a home style shake and vac.  You will need a tub of bicarbonate of soda and some essential oil, either lavender or tea tree as they are both strong smells.  Put loads of the oil in the bicarb and shake up leave it about a day to fully mix, shaking it occasionally.  Then sprinkle a lot over the carpet overnight and hoover up the next morning.  Works a treat for us.  But as all good products say test it on a descreet patch first.  We have never had a problem with our carpets as most are dark downstairs near the dogs.

Slight warning, when making the mix if you use lavendar you may become super relaxed from the smell. :-D

When I had carpets I used to put Bio washing liquid in the VAX :-D  It certainly helped to kill any smells - just make sure not to put too much ;)  I never found the Vax liquids or the others any good ;)

What do you do Dill???? Did it sort out the stains as well????
I have a Vax that you put all the detergant in one place and the water in another!!!!
Maybe I wil try a dilute mix of Bio liquid in the detergant vessel.
Hopefully will work better than the special stuff LOL

I put some warm diluted Bio Wash Liquid (Not Bold!) in a spray bottle and sprayed the stains first.  By the time I'd finished that I was ready to start VAXing.  I used warm water (not hot!) to VAX as it helps the enzymes in the Bio Wash work ;)   Hope this helps.

I used the hand wash guide on the bottle and put a little less in than suggested (soft water area)

k9queen,

I used the Bio Wash Liquid because it's already dissolved so there's no chance of lumps or more concentrated bits ;) washing powder doesn't dissolve very quickly and is designed for the agitation of a washing machine.

I will try that the next time I use it :) :)

Simple Solution I found was the best for odour removal.  The trick is you really have to soak the spot so that the solution reaches the carpet underlay, which is probably where the odour is still sitting.
