Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / diarrohea on Arden Grange?

Please can anyone help?  My 5mnth old Bullmastiff has had another episode of vomiting and diarrohea, well in herself. Could it be AG? She has been on Large Breed puppy/junior.  Have thought about trying a different food like JWB but they don't do a large breed puppy, how important is this? Jst wondering whether AG is a bit rich, she does have a little Butchers tripe mixed with as do all my others though my 8yr Greyhound also seems to have had on and off bouts of colitis. Beginning to think, s*d it and put them on something cheaper and perhaps not so rich?? But am too scared to as she is growing nicely, and my others are quite fussy and feel even if they only pick at AG they are getting more out of it than a less "concentrated" food. Would be grateful for any advice/experience

two of my dogs did brilliantly on AG, one didnt.  We ended up changing to genesis and they all do wonderfully on it.

Just remember what suits one wont necessarily suit them all.

Vomiting is unlikely to be caused by switching to a new food.   Loose poo is the typical symptom, especially if you switch to a new food too quickly without gradually decreasing the old food for the new.

Both my dogs do well on AG.  One of my had an attach of bloody diarhea from JWB - the duck variety.  My other dog was fine on it.   A few months ago I decided to try the JWB grain-free variety.  My dog that reacted badly to JWB duck was absolutely fine on it.  My other dog - who normally has really solid, firm poos - ended up with really soft ones.    So I'm back to AG.

Horses for courses.

if i remember rightly puppy/junior is only available in chicken variety , maybe he could be allergic to chicken , as a friend of mine's dog is allergic to anything with chicken usual symptoms are diarrohea , i have to say my 4 are on arden grange a year and i have had no problems whatsover i recently put my male 'Boo' and older female 'lil' on the light which is only available in chicken and they love it no problems with the change over

hope your puppy is better soon

I would try her on the adult formulation either the Lamb or the Fish as they are protein wise almost identical to the large breed puppy being lower in protein and fats than the usual puppy food.

The puppy foods are all chicken based.

Try AG salmon and rice my two do very well on that, they are both young dogs,i tried AG lamb and rice but it didnt agree with them so well. i think its a case of trying different foods and seeing what suits your dog.

thank you for all advice - will try salmon and rice, as did wonder what difference there was between large breed puppy and adult and looking not much.
