I have a bitch who we have only ever managed to get mated once before, (had 1 pup but was dead before birth) so we always thought it would never happen. Anyway she came into season on Aug 1st, bleeding for only 4 days, although the swelling came up after. We have a dog and were away in the caravan and he was interested but she wouldnt let him anywhere near, but on the 16th he mated her and had a 10 min tie, so we decided to try again on the 18th, another 10 min tie, then while I was at work my brother let them out together and got another 15 min tie (20th).
She has now started to bleed a bit, ans is weeing alot, she also wont eat her tea and has starting shaking a little bit, I do have a vets appointment later today but Im a bit concerned. She is a very sulky bitch and quiet anyway but it just seems strange.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Rachel.
My bitch statred to wee a lot and small amounts after a mating the last time - she had cyctitis so the your girl shaking could be that she has temp or just feeling unwell and has an infection.
I got mine on antibiotics - sadly she missed and we had no puppies.
Hope she's ok.

Hi,
Had her at the vets and she thinks its also cyctitis, have done a urine sample tho, just waiting for the results back. She seems a bit better at mo tho, typical!!!!
did he give her any antibiotics or waiting for the urine sample result first?
Glad she's a little better. Hope she produces a litter for you to!!

Good old cyctitis. Never had one of my bitches have it but had a pedigree cat a while ago and everytime she was mated no matter how many tests she and the stud had before hand would always get cyctitis after mating.
Antibiotics cure it very quickly. Agree the shaking is her temp trying to fight it.

Good, she'll certainly start to feel better soon.
Let us know if she is in whelp in few weeks time!
Hope she's feeling abit better today!

Thanks for your replies.
She seemed to get better through the course of her medication, they finished last friday and by early hours of sunday she was ill, her temp was 105 so a phone call to the vets and in she went, he preformed a scan and we were told she still had the urine infection and it was not pyo. Yesterday she was getting worse so rang the vet again and we took her down first thing today, another scan and yes she has pyo, so she is being spayed at the moment, he took her straight up to surgery :(
So sorry to hear this news, thankgoodness they found the pyro and hope she will soon be on the mend.
(((((hugs))))))
