I guess if it was line bred then no i would but if it was an out cross worth looking at the possiblity. It's not a cav i've got but a pom and his was cause by a vet messing up spinal taps on him so i don't have to worry about it in my breeding but the worry of him is enough! Zoe x p.s. Think i'd rather be hated that keep quiet too.
The makers took two years to produce this programme and it was on the television for just 60 minutes..........they must have spent at least 6 months looking for the bits that would shock the most. The lady with the Pugs also has my breed and when I was speaking to her yesterday she told me they had interviewed her for over an hour......how long was her bit.....at least two minutes???? So what else was taken out of context??
Neither did they say that the Boxer was filmed by it's owners who should have had more compassion for the dog than to let it get to that point before they had it put down IMO. Syringomyelia has only been known in Cavaliers for about 6/7 years and how do they expect any breed club to eradicate something in that time?? I notice that the so called vet from the RSPCA didn't come up with a sensible solution for finding a cure.
Back in the 60s when I lived near Shrewsbury, there was an electricity sub station next to our garden where a cat had her kittens. When the time came that the kittens could run about and needed feeding more than the mother was able to provide, someone called the RSPCA. Out they came in a little white van one of them opened the back door and produced a box with a glass front. The other guy climbed the wall and got the kittens one by one. As he handed them over they were placed in the box and when all the kittens had been put in there the men proceeded to cloroform the kittens....remember the window on the front?? There were several children watching who got very very upset and when asked why it was done in front of them instead of back at the clinic the answer was 'sooner the better' The RSPCA doesn't seem to have changed much except it now dabbles in politics!!! perhaps they should do a behind the scenes programme on the practises of the RSPCA!
