my french bulldog was fine when i first got him, he ate like a normal puppy, recently hes started eating like a pig, he eats everything he can get his mouth around, even the catfood and if he cant get it he starts whining and crying. iv tried feeding him at regular times but he sits there with his big puppy eyes staring at me. i dont know what else to do, i dont want him to get fat and ill
any help?
p.s french kisses are the best

Stop feeding him when he begs.  Dogs are opportunists and if they learn how to get food out of you they will do this to stock up against the times when food will be difficult to get but of course, as pets that day never comes and they just get fat.  This is the last thing you would want with a brachycephalic breed and would make having an anaesthetic for instance a huge risk.  If you really love your pet you will harden your heart :-)

Has Dumpling been wormed? Being full of worms can often make pups extra hungry.

When he begs why not play a game with him instead and distract him from wanting the food.

I find a good way of keeping puppies (and older dogs) occupied is to put their dried food in a treat ball.  (They are selling a nice sized one in Tescos at the moment for smallish dogs.)   I put the food in and let pup work out how to get it out ;)  they soon get the idea and enjoy rolling it around getting the food that falls out :-)

With the older dogs I use a Buster treat Ball (it's SQUARE! ) and it takes longer to get the food out.

Or I give them a bone to gnaw on.   The steamed stuffed ones go down well and when empty I put cream cheese/fish paste/pate around the inside - always supervised tho just in case ;)

Sometimes it's not hunger driving them, but BOREDOM!

How is his weight? Silly question but have you been increasing his food as he grows bigger. It can be hard to judge how much to increase the portions as they bet bigger.

Might there be a clue in the title? :-)

LOL I just assumed she didn't want him to get fat but yes, forgot about the title. :)
