Can this be used for dog training? Or is it too rich.

You give very tiny pieces in training - the size of a large pea. So sausages should be okay. Cook the sausage and when it is very cold cut it up into small bits.
Don't be too generous when training and you should be okay.
One suggestion is to put the garlic sausage pieces in your bag with a few other types of treats. In that way the garlic smell transfers and suddenly all the treats are more appealing! I do this with some of the greasy salami sausage things from Pets at Home. I figure that quite a lot of treats aren't particularly nutritious so I don't like my dog to have too many/much of any one thing. It also keeps him keen as he doesn't know what's coming out of the bag next....
Just cut it all into small bits and if you want to do a big reward give a couple at a time. When we first started our KC Good Citizens training I was amazed at how much we got through and if the pieces are too large your dog will spend too much time chewing to concentrate!!
Thats a great idea, :-) i will make them up a pick a mix bag of goodies..
One thing is for sure we won't be buying garlic sauages again, they have stunk the whole house out and my OH is not a happy bunny!
The sausages i got from pets at home are 3 for £1.00 on offer at the moment, they are really stinky and the dogs just love them :-D :-D

I've bought tripe sticks before and they smell horrible too. Had to send Osc outside to eat them!
At training class we used to use liver cake. They gave us the recipe and it was basically just liver and garlic and the dogs loved it. Didn't smell too bad either.

My dogs would. never get a chance at the Garlic sausage unless it was starting to go slimy, I like ti too much, anything with Garlic, yum ;)

Liver cake is great for training I make it regularly. Like the idea of a mxd bag of goodies with the garlic sausage, will try that for variation

How do you make liver cake?
A friend of mine swears by tuna cake. My dogs don't like anything fishy !! :-D

Liver cake
approx 1lbs liver (any)
2eggs
3-5 garlic cloves
milk to mix
liquidize all together then add flour until it has the texture of thick cake mix
bake in oven at approx reg5/6 electric 180/200 until it looks done
Warn family it smells when cooking !apparently u can do it in the micro wave but I haven't tried

One of my friend's dogs hates all fish and fishy treats but does like tuna cake. Odd huh. :)

Can annyone give me the recipe for tuna cake please. My bunch love fishy things.

This is one I have for Sardine/pilchard cake you can use tuna instead
"4 tins sardines or 1 large tin pilchards put into a bowl and mash with a fork.... add 4 eggs, as much garlic or garlic powder as you like. Stir in plain flour to make a consistency that will 'just' about drop off the spoon...put into a greased dish and cook for about 7 minutes in the microwave or cover with a greased paper and pop into the Aga until cooked. Freezes really well and if you get the mixture right it bounces too......."

Just a tip to add to the Sardine cake recipe
Do NOT try to dry it out in the oven for crispy treats !!!
I thought it was a great idea, and it was very successful, but the house stank of sardines for about 4 weeks after :( :(
The treats lasted for ages in an airtight tin tho :-D

Forgot to say,
I use the Mattessons sausages. They aren't very salty and can be cut up really small and frozen to have a regular supply.
I mix them in a bag with cheese and puppy biccies so the dogs don't know whats coming next

ROFLMAO :-D
That's why it drying isn't mentioned LOLOLOLOLOLOL :-D

Thank you very much
