Any ideas on disapline???

I have a puppy - 6 months. He snaps a bit- he still things its playful - putting him in his crete works sometimes but not always as its also his bed so....?

My partner smacks him, I dont like this- and he'll start to think its a game...

Help?!?

It's far better to reward good behaviour and ignore bad -i.e. you do not discipline at all as such. Smacking will never teach anything but fear.

Echo this and woth a snappy pup you dont want to be scaring him too or it might turn to aggression to protect himself and he would be within his rights to do so too as he someone smacked me Id smack em back lol

Try telling him a very firm no! and stand up when you say it but dont tower over him as that can create fear too in a pup, stand up and say NO nice and firm and loud and after a couple of these if he doesnt stop put him in his crate, not angrily so he sees it as punishment but so he knows he has been excluded from the games as he cant play nice, you just have to repeat repeat and repeat and he will get it eventually as he will get the thought if he bites he gets put away and thats no fun so ill stop biting!
Or say a loud ouch and that works just as well as No :)

Get to a training class and learn how to teach your dog to do the things you want him to do.  Don't tell him off for not knowing how to behave - it's your responsibility to help your dog learn what is desirable by praise and reward.

Tell your OH in the meantime that at any time he wishes to smack your dog he should just get up and walk out of the room.

Nothing about hitting a dog can be described as a game: at best you'll get a scared and hand shy dog - at worst you'll create a biter

No smacking.  Someone in my dog's past has obviously smacked him and newspapered him pretty badly.  Raise your hand or a paper near him now (not to hit him but just movement in everyday life) and he thinks you're going for him and he will retaliate with teeth - and that's after 5 years when he knows we're not unkind.  Don't put your pup down this path.  With Copper, for him, the worst thing you can do is ignore him if he misbehaves and that's what I do and he doesn't do it twice.  He knows.
