Can somebody please tell me just how much exercise I should be giving my 12 week old GSD pup, I have heard differing advice ranging from you should not be walking them at all, to as much as the dog himself wants. He's a big boy and basically wants to go over the woods or the park all the time. being new to shepherds I've heard about the damage to the hips and elbows from over exercise so I need to know. The other thing is He's always going up and down the stairs in my house, once again is this okay??

Thanks for any help

No No No No No , Did your breeder not give you any advice when you bought the puppy? I advise all new owners to keep the puppy on a lead until it is at least 9 months old, certainly never allowed up and down stairs, even my adults are taken on lead up and down the stairs......Yes you can cause damage to Hips, by over exercising, ther is another posting on the board of exactly the same subject, please read that one as well, I fully agree with all the advice given on that thread.
