I am drivng myself nuts since I found the dog food analysis site, basically all the common brands we use in this country are not recommended by them! Ok, I can live with one that isn't recommended but I have learnt a bit about what to look for composition wise and have been considering JWB and Skinners.
Following a thread on here (after buying a small bag of JWB to try!) I don't like their testing policy so would prefer to use a different brand.I have a sample bag of Skinners but Pippa just turns her nose up at it. I don't want to buy a 15kg sack and her refuse it so what to do?
She is eating up a bag of Wagg that the lady at Farmway advised me to give her when first preggy, she wouldn't touch it then but has just about got through it now but I'm not going to buy more as it is mainly fillers and little meat content, similarly the Farmway own we used to give her.
Aaaarrrggghh!
Please help. She is almost 3, a very active but not working GWP,we are going to be doing agility/flyball with her soon, had 12 puppies 11 weeks ago but completely weaned and the vet says back to normal.
She has always been a bit of a picky eater and doesn't carry any excess weight.
Ideas, experiences please? I have looked into BARF as well but not quite ready to go down that road.

Have you tried Arden Grange lamb and rice, ours love it! And IMO it's one of the better quality foods.

well i feed mine orijen which i get from online, but all the foods over here do get a poor rating on that web site AG is the only one that really does well you can buy off the shelf. That doesnt mean all the foods over here are bad for your dogs, far from it as would all the large compaines still be going if their food was bad for your dog? i just feel you dont always get what you pay for as the good foods from overseas cost about the same as a good brand of food over here that has a lot more "filler" in. But you do need to look at what your dog needs as every dog is different and also what your veiws are on testing on animals.

Our previously fussy boy loves Arden Grange.  As do I!  They offer very good advice and customer service and I find their breeder rates are great.  They will send you free tester bags so you can try the range of foods and you can also buy in smaller amounts to start with.  I generally give my dogs Lamb and Rice but we had several free bags of Salmon and Rice and they love that too.

I find that I need to feed less AG than the Nutro they were on previously.  One dog was on 80g per meal and is now on 72g per meal.  It doesn't sound like much but in fact it's an extra 20 portions per 15kg bag!!

We found the best way to tempt our fussy dog was to warm the food - just splash a little water on it and put in the microwave for 20 seconds (should be warm, not hot).  'No dog can resist' said the guy at the pet shop - he was right!  Alternatively add a tablespoon of canned dog food and a little warm water

With complete foods I agree either AG which seems to come up well or Orijen which I got from Bern digital the have just begun as suppliers.

I have gone down the raw meaty bones root  finally and it is going great with both dogs gsd and pomxchi
