Had a visit yesterday evening from my cousin. She must be the dullest person in the universe. She spent practically the whole visit telling me about her illnesses and....horror of horrors..... her dreams!!! Can there be anything more boring than listening to other peoples accounts of their dreams.

I'm tempted to say reading posts about being bored by accounts of peoples dreams :-D but, no, you gave me a laugh and I do agree.

Hmmm yes that does sound a tad boring!  People that drone on about how ill they are bore me as they are usually not that ill at all.  And most programmes on TV bore me rigid.  Much more fun walking the dog :)

Well those not into what interests you and me will find out conversations revolving aroudn dogs a real bore.

I wouldnt say anything actually bores me I always try to find the time to listen to people , its quite easy to encourage them to 'speed up' if they are stretching it out!
Its arrogant/ignorant people and  bullies  I detest.

That's only polite and I am sure Saxon sipped her tipped and nodded and murmered agreement but that does not mean you cannot scream inside :-)

I'm with you on that........In fact with some folk I encourage the boring stuff, as I know how hard I can find it to share 'boring stuff.'
It is actually good to talk and/or simply share with some one who is willing to listen.

Oh dear, I don't think anyone is suggesting that people with real problems they are needing to talk about would be be boring to their friends or family.   I think we all know people that are simply tedious at times and I am not saying we should be rude them either but it is beyond human nature to not find it boring sometimes.

I don't generally find people boring but the ones I hate talking to are those that talk absolutely non-stop at you and don't stop to draw breath so you can get a word in :-P

Listening to someone go on, an on, an on, an on about how they are fed up, bored, hating work, moaning about an aspect in their life that you have tried to help them with, but they don't do anything to help themselves.

People who only ever contact you to moan about the above, any other time they don't want to know.

I still think they are in need of a listening ear, and can be in need of unloading.
An old lady said to me just last week that a certain person had asked her how she was.......she then proceeded to say ' she asked for it and she got it'.
I laughed out loud as she told me her list of complaints and how some people dont really want to know but sometimes it really so relevant in her life that she wants to tell people. And let them know her problems.

I dread to think of how many people I have bored recently always chatting about Mitzy and my new puppy Turbo and their training etc lol But I have been bored by these people millions of times with thier illnesses stories and boring work talk so its pay back time now!! Mwah hahaha!!! :)

Oh yes, that's another one Ioxia, people who go on and on about how awful their life is. I've got a friend who is constantly moaning about how mean her husband is. She doesn't work, she lives in a huge house, her husband provides and pays for, a very nice car, a horse, a horsebox, pays for her to go hunting every winter, pays all the household bills and gives her an allowance of £250 a week, on top of which, he pays for all her clothes, (he won't let her buy cheap clothes and insists she always has the best), and she says he's mean because he'll only pay for a cleaning lady 3 days a week.
Now, I'm not trying to suggest that I have a hard life, I also don't have to work and have everything that I want within reason, but the difference is, I go down on my knees and thank God every day for my good fortune, and try to do as much as I can for several charities.

You are quite right Isabel, I did politely sip my tea, but the devil inside my head kept screaming...GO HOME, I WANT TO GO TO BED.
- By killickchick Date 29.08.08 16:19 UTC Edited 29.08.08 16:22 UTC
I have perfected the art of nodding, agreeing, murmering, exclaiming and looking interested in all the right places while actually thinking of more interesting things ( to me,that is:) ) My friend would always ask how I managed to do it without showing my boredom.  Practice, Practice :-D

My pet hate is : people who ask how you are/ what's going on in your life but don't really want an answer. They just want to tell you how they are/what's happening to them! They have no real interest in what you have to say at all!

So, people who never listen really.

LOL :) , looking at peoples holiday photos, and holiday stories too are boring. My neighbours bore me to tears, my hubby is very polite and has been kept talking for over two hours by our neigbours, i am not joking, they just tell you the same life story over and over and over again.

OHs sister, if she wasn't s-in law I doubt I would do more than say 'morning' if I passed her in street. Even tho she only lives about 1/2 hr away we don't see her that often as she don't drive but when she does come over we have 2 hrs of what ? is doing or that they died - usually someone OH was in school with and hasn't seen since. OH is now 70 and left school at 16!!!!!!!!!!
She drives me BANANAS.
