Hi All, Is it available in the UK and if it is does anyone have experience of using it. I have father and daughter and was hoping to prevent any mishaps. We've had one season with no problems but with kids and their friends in and out constantly didn't want to rely on doors being kept shut again.(we had no visitors allowed policy last time- went down like a lead balloon :-()

Yes it is available in the UK, my eldest BC boy was one of the first to have the implant done, please note they do not guarentee 100% infertility, but with the reduction of the testosterone the interest in females is greatly reduced & instead of humping her at every opportunity(she wasn't in season)he has stopped altogether. Only the 6 monthly version is licensed in the UK @ this time.

One sideaffect is that the testicles shrink in size, but do return to normal if the implant isn't renwed-I'll be keeping Rjj on the implant & Wukee will go on it once he is mature.

You obviously should still keep them apart whilst the bitch is in season & also not leave them together alone, but the males interest will be greatly reduced

THanks MM Thats exactly what I want it for, his interest to wane! Can keep them apart but belt and braces won't go amiss. I spoke to my vet and she is going to get back to me. Can I ask how much you were charged as I would like some idea of what to expect (PM if you prefer)
Thanks

Well I paid just under £50 & as it has to be refridgerated I was asked if I definitely wanted it no pint in them ordering it & e then changing my mind. They ordered it on the Monday it was released & I had it implanted on the Wednesday, took about 7-10 days to show a marked difference in his behaviour, the humping stopped totally after this time

Thanks MM, I now have some idea to what to expect. My vet just rang back to say they can get it in if I would like to go ahead. She was checking out the cost as they have never done it before (surprised LOL they usually tell you the price 1st). Thanks! Angela
