I would like to use a weedkiller in the garden, well patio i have lots of dock leaves coming up through and i keep pulling them up but need to kill them now. I have been to a big DIY store but the staff member for gardening could not tell of anything that i could use with the dogs. I only have dogs no fish or anything else in the garden.
Anybody out there used anything ?

Roundup says that "Children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas".

As JG says, Roundup is fine around Pets.
I use the industrial stuff that I am licenced to use and use the mix 10-20 times stronger than the 'layman' can buy(I AM allowed to LOL) , and what I do just to on the safe side, is make sure you keep your dogs in for an hour after spraying. Or put it on just before you go out, or to bed :) :)
The best thing to do is to stand on the docks, not to break them but to break the surface of the leaves before spraying, as this will help the chemical (Glysophate in Roundup) get into the system.

Yes like others have already said Roundup!

I've used roundup before but found that although it killed the weeds that were already growing it didn't stop others growing in their places almost straight away. Now I use pathclear, you keep the dogs off it while you're spraying but they can go out as soon as it's dry. It claims to kill all weeds for 3 months but I find I only have to use it once a year, I do make it up a bit stronger than recommended though!

I prefer to burn weeds with a gas burner ;)

Having lost a Guinea pig to weedkiller that shouldn't have affected her I take NO Chances ;)  Just me I suppose ;)

If you use a gas burner make sure there aren't any gas pipes nearby ;)

All pesticides are about to be banned here and we have heard roundup IS bad for any critter who might lick it's feet or coat and ingest the stuff.  I'll see if I can find any links to support that.  We prefer to just use boiling water.  Vinegar might be effective too.  However we do use roundup on some bad weeds, like goutweed, by painting on a leaf of the plant.  Roundup is a systemic so kills the plant and painting means it does not blow around as spray can do.
