Hi . can you tell me what age do you first worm a litter and with wot? thanks

It varies with the product and personally I use Panacur liquid (10% suspension). The manufacturers recommend worming at 2 1/2 - 3 weeks, 5 weeks and 8 weeks. I have always done them at 3 weeks (it is done over 3 days), and 7 weeks, as I had problems when worming the recommended way, but of course I had also wormed the bitch through pregnancy so worm burden in pups would have been very minimal.
Some of the older wormers need to be given weekly whereas Panacur and Drontal are given monthly after the 8 weeks.
Your Vet can advise.
Hi - I used drontal puppy suspension at 2,4,6, and 8 wks and then advised new puppy owners to worm them at 10 and 12 wks, I am aware that quite a lot of breeders use the drontal with no problems.

You need to ask your vet for the correct medication and dosage, depending on the size of the puppies. You'll also need to worm the bitchat the same time.
Don't buy any of the pet shop or supermarket wormers - they're no good!

Use liquid for the puppies. It's much easier that way. But ask your vet for the dosage etc.

Hi, i too use Drontal puppy suspension at 2,4,6, & 8 weeks, then advise new owners to worm at 10 & 12 weeks, then every 3 months after the 12 weeks dose, i but this product online, much cheaper than my vet
i to use drontal for our puppies ,there 2weeks today and im off the the vets on wed for there 1st worming ,2weeks then 4,6,8 and then the new owner takes over ,i wouldnt use anything from a shop thay just dont work !!!
I use Drontal liquid 2,4,6,8,10 and 12 weeks mum also gets wormed at these times with drontal tablets, Last litter i decided to do a Panacur worming at 6 weeks in between drontal ,sometimes worms can get resistant .just to be on the safe side,Definately buy online loads cheaper than vets!

Panacur (in the syringe) starting at 3 weeks the same a brainless. Have used it for years and always seems to do the job.
But pick a product you like and can easily get hold off

Edited to say I switch them to milbamax tablets when they are older as it is perfect for the size of my breed, and they dont seem to spit them out

I use panacur paste, so easy to use, so easy to give the pups to. I worm at 3weeks and six weeks, full dose for there weight. I also worm my bitch in pregnancy and I have to admit very little worms if any from the pups.
I then leave the next worming to the new owners when they take them to there vets for there injections.

Great question, and helpful answers!!
I am wondering, a few of you said that you worm the bitch during pregnancy-- about how far along is she, when you worm her? Should the dosage just go by her weight at the time of administering?
Danni

As far as I know only Panacur is Licensed for use in pregnancy. It is given at 1/4 the adult dose every day from day 40 in pregnancy to 3 days post whelping. this should stop 98% of the migration of worm larva from the bitch to her puppies.
I have now done this with 6 generations of bitches.
The Beauty of this I feel is that generation on generation when your bitch pups are also wormed regularly it means there is less larva encysted in the bitches tissues to pass onto the next generation.

Panacur here. Wendy tended towards Drontal, but we found it really scoured last year's litter.

I checked with Bayer Health Care regarding Drontal when wanting to worm a bitch in whelp and they said that Drontal Plus was safe during pregnancy and lactation
yes it is safe ,i use it for mine !!
