Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Dog World critiques
- By AiredaleKate [eu] Date 22.08.08 09:28 UTC
Hi,

Does anyone have access to Dog World on line know if you can search for critiques by dog name/other detail rather than wading through lots of info?  If so, would anyone mind seeing if there are a couple of critiques for my dog.  I have an online account with Our Dogs but they haven't appeared there yet, and the shows were back in May/June. Both were breed club shows.  If anyone can help, I'll let you know the details.

Thanks ;-)

I think ourdogs is always behind dog world anyway.

Some take ages to get printed and if its a champ show then it tells you on the show report list what breeds are in for that week. Its the open shows that are more tricky and you have to remember which ones you've done! some of the time the critique is only for the 1st place in opens.

im still waiting for 5 critiques, 4 are champ shows and one a club open show from back in May !!!  Its so disapointing when I get my dog world and see they arent in there :(

Seems I may be waiting a while longer yet.  I know critiques aren't the be all and end all, but as I'm new to showing, it would be good to get feedback on what judges think, particularly on my handling/grooming/what needs to be worked on.

Like you say, I eagerly look on line at Our Dogs each week, only to see they're still not there :-(

Yes you can search by any criteria, show, surname, dog name etc.  I like to comb through Dog World first, then I look at the index to see if I've missed anything and then I still search online.  Yes I know, bit sad, but I still get excited about a mention and I like to see how others in the breed are doing too.

Don't hold out too much hope for great detail in the critique, some judges don't say much and others, if you compare, tend to say similar things for each dog!  It's difficult to interpret anything you can work with and although some judges do mention handling it tends to be non specific just 'well handled'.  Although occasionally someone will mention a dog needs ringcraft!  It helps to ask a pal ringside to watch for something if you want some immediate feedback.

If they were breed shows you may find that the judge gives them copies of their critiques first and they will publish it on the breed club site.

If you'd like to PM your details I can do a search on DW for you if you like

dont forget they can only publish what they have receieved....if judges dont submit it then its not DW's fault!

I dont like judges who dont submit them, seems pointless that they even took them down in the first place if they aren't going to be published.  Thankfully most of out judges are pretty good.  Only have to wait a couple of months.  But sometimes they are in the breeds notes before they appear under the OD2 section, especially the champ show ones.

For a Champ show you can report the judge to the KC if you have definitely not seen a critique printed. I'm missing 2 for open shows though and they don't care about them. I emailed the secretary of one and he just replied that it wasn't in the contract to do one. My Yankee isn't much of a show dog and it will probably be the only time in his life we (a) bother to enter a show (we were on holiday and thought it would be a laugh) and (b) have him the only one of his breed there, so we should have had a write up. That judge did the whole gundog group and the Group judging too and didn't do a critique for any breed, I am still really miffed.

judge at LKA  witheld CC think they owe  exhibitors an explanation. If you judge  i think it you owe the exhibitor a critique.

Lucy  have you a contact name  etc?  to report missing critique  plz
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 22.08.08 20:37 UTC
Not specifically a name I'm afraid, try the KC website and there will be contact details for the different departments.

If you want to know if a report has been received send an email to showreports@dogworld.co.uk.   They're pretty efficient so you're likely to get a prompt response.
