can anyone tell me if this medication can make your dog go of there food? thanks

No, well not usually, it normally has the opposite effect. Is he ok otherwise, it is possible it could be having a bad effect on him or that the accident that caused the leg injury has also caused some other damage.

she is fine other than not eating, just had a thought i wonder if she is sulking because shes not been out for her run up the woods, we feel bad enough without her not eating,

She probably finds the change in routine a bit puzzling. Would not worry about the eating she will not starve herself.

If you read the last paragraph on the manufacturers page, it does mention that loss of appitite can be a side effect.

And this is the information that all dog owners should read if their dog is prescribed Rimadyl.

One of my oldies was given Rymadyl and he started to vomit and had to change to Metacam.

just wanted to say tess is now back to eating normally. and she eat her usuall sunday roast dinner to,, she seems absolutly great but still no walks, bless

My dog was just given an injection of Rimadyl and prescribed a course of the drug for a broken paw. After googling Rimadyl I decided against giving her the tablets. I'm now keeping an eye on her for loss of appetite, vomiting, sleepiness and loss of co-ordination, the poor thing.

I think you are very wise to keep a close eye on your dog. I lost a dog after an operation for jaw cancer. She had been on Rimadyl for 5 days and we had just got her home within 24hrs she had died from a gastric torsion, She had been through an awful lot but the vet was very surprised as to the state of her stomach when she opened her up. After some discussion and research I am sure that rimadyl was a contributing factor to her death particularly as she was not able a to eat properly.
I would be very careful if I had to use it again as it appears if not watched carefully and given on a full stomach in a suceptable dog it can be disasterous

I steer clear of Rymadil. It affects some breeds worse than others. If I need a prescription painkiller I go for Predno-Leucotropin, (PLT), but if it's for long term use such as for arthritis, I use Riaflex Joint Compound and Riaflex Devils Alternative, (Devils Claw).
