hyperthetical question........

dog is born on 1st of january 2000

dog show is on 1st of january 2001

is the dog eligible to be entered in puppy class as being under 12 months of age or should it be entered in junior as being over 12 months of age ?

show regulations regarding age :--

PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the FIRST day of the Show.
JUNIOR—For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the FIRST day of the Show.

Morning Ziggar
As far as know you will have to enter Junior, as your dog will be a year old on that day.

Yip Kelly think you are right it is Junior as had the same problem with Holly she turned one on the day of the show and I was told to put her in the Junior. I think it depends on the day the show starts though IE if it starts the day before the first birthday. Sure one of the judges will clarify it.

In my case it was a one day open so she had to go in junior.

Kelly How is the nutter theses days..??? ( Malki)

This has been mentioned somewhat earlier, maybe several months ago, and it is the wording 'the dog must not EXCEED 12 months' ie on its birthday it IS 12 months of age. What does need to be kept in mind is the Ch shows where it is the 1st day of the show that counts.
So in your example if the show started on 31/12 or 01/01 your dog is eligible for puppy even though your breed may not be until 02/01 or 03/01. However if the show starts 02/01 your dog must go into Junior.

Long Dog is Correct. Not exceding 9months (minor puppy), 12months (puppy) or 18 months ( junior) on the first day of the show.
To add to the complications some shows (including Crufts) have special puppy & junior classes, so read the "Definitions of Classes" but the same rule applies to any class that is regulated by age, not exceding.
