Hi Guys

Just a quickie.

In your experience at what age do eyes open.  What's the latest you've experienced?

I have a gundog breed and was expecting eyes to have started to open around the 10 days mark.  However we now 15 days and no sign of them opening at all.

Everything else normal and doing really well.

Thanks
Vicky

Are they kept in a bright area or in dim light?

Bit of both really!!

They are in the back bedroom with cotton curtains no lining which I draw back slightly (about 2-3 foot) during the day so my girl doesn't feel as though she's in a prison cell.  The room is not really bright but not really dim I don't close the door as I have stairgate on.  It's got a really large window and if I draw the curtains right back the abount of heat loss in the morning is incredible, then when the sun comes around in the afternoon it shines straight in.

Does this make a difference?  Doesn't tell you that in my bible (Book of the Bitch) - lol

My current litter opened their eyes early at 10 days which is the soonest I have had, usually bout 12 days, but have had them as late 14 days.

I've spoken to my mentor and the breeder of my bitch and they have both said not to worry!  However I must admit I am starting to a little or am I just being impatient?

They just show no signs at all of openeing not even in the corners.

Thanks Barney

I'm feeling better still.

Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong with this mating/litter so perhaps I'm just being a litter paranoid - lol

The eyes start to open at around day 12-14 or even later, i wouldnt worry to much.

Thanks for all your advice.

They are now open and I was worrying over nothing as per usual - lol
