I have just heard that the lady owner I breed my snoop with {bull terrier] has to get rid of the bitch "Chloe" and a son "Rude" my snoops off spring, I really want to help out by homing one of these dogs, I have a 4 year old bitch and am worried what Chloe as she is 7 will be like with my bitch? I know she will be great with snoop, If I take on the son Rude he is 5 yrs old now but I don;t know how he will be with snoop his Dad as he is 9 now and my bitch and my 2 cats...I really want to help out in any way I can but do not want to let my heart rule my head and take on more than I can handle ?

hi magica

i can understand your worry however if you really feel that you will be biting off more than you can chew it is best to rehome them. If you are worried about how the dogs will get on then you have nothing to lose by introducing them all to one another and seeing how they react. Also don't feel obliged to take them on, they aren't your dogs and its not your fault that the owner has to get rid of them, there are plenty of homes out there for them i'm sure. If you really feel you can't take them all on (which is a normal reaction I can assure you) then you can take them to the bull terrier breed rescue who will most probably find them a reputable home.

good luck

Good on you Magica for being concerned about your dog's pup :)  that's what being a Stud owner is about ;)

If you want to help, why not help her find good homes for them?  that way you're helping but not risking the future of your dogs and hers, after all if they don't get on you'd still have to move the newcomers on which would be harder later than sooner ;)  Do you have links to breed rescue and the puppy list co-ordinator?  Sometimes peopole want a dog but not a pup.  These people my already be waiting in the wings ;)

Im sorry if this sounds a bit blunt but she is geting rid of a bitch that is 7 years old.  This always rings alarm bells with me as that means that she has used the bitch for as long as she can register pups from her.  Now she is coming up to the 8 year marker she is geting rid.  But of course their may be other reasons behind all this but the age flashed up at me first.

I know you want to offer them a home but can you give us a bit more info into why they need rehoming in the first place?

I have not spoken to the lady in question as yet, so didn't want to give wrong info about this, I do know she is a bull terrier nut and is devastated by having to go through with this, she has had to cope with her young son [14] having a bad accident suffering terrible head injuries so has been away staying at a hospital with her child for months now up country. The bitch Chloe she took on from her brother some 5 years ago. The resulting pup which her older son kept is Rude but as he is living at home even though he is in his 20's ? She still has to cope with both dogs in her home, From what I've been told she has suffered with illness asthma brought on by stress herself now? As I said not sure if this is the proper facts.

Poor woman sounds as if she has an awful lot to contend with, and the child has to come first. Maybe as this is a genuine case rescue could help.
