Hello can anyone help me , I have a 7 month old puppy who this past 4 weeks now has started to develop bald patches all over him , he has been to the vets 4 times now , they have checked him for mites and ringworm and he does not have either. He was on royal canin medium/junior and I have now puit him on James wellbeloved with a drop of flax seed oil for his coat. Has anyone else had this problem ?
Is it going to pass ? any help or advice would be greatfully appriciated.

He is a bulldog

Could be a few things.
Fungal problem - vets can do a scrape for it
Allergy - Skin tests and elimination diet to prove that one
Pattern baldness - Hereditary and start to come on between 6 - 12 months and does not go away
I am sure their are probably several more

Allergy seem to be quite common now.  It took about 6 months of various test to find out one of my dogs has a grass pollen allergy.  He now has all his coat back and has to has anti allergy injections each grass pollen season to keep his coat.

So depending what it is it may or may not pass.  I would recommend calling your breeder to see if any relatives (grandparents, aunts, uncles) have ever had such a problem.  Also the breeder will want to know what it is when you find out especially if it is hereditary.

So back to the vets for many more tests.

Hormones can also be responsible for bald patches, has he had any blood tests done ??

Being a bulldog i think it may be allergies?? grass seeds, dust mites, pollen, its quite common. Try him on some piriton or go to your vets and ask for some allergy tests, but my dogs get terrible oily dry skin with JWB so i stear clear, think arden grange would be your next best bet, if you order it from vetukltd its cheaper than direct from arden grange. its anti-allergy stuff so should flair him up. once you have found what it is if it allergies get and allergen free bed for him to sleep on should help alot with dust mites and things. Meanwhile dont bath him too much either.

Hope you get it sorted

Hi

My staffi has always had a thin coat and when she was younger had scrappings and biopseys but they didn't find anything, was told it was probably dermodex mite which is dormant in all dogs unless they are run down, have underlying problems or just unlucky like maisie. She has always had a bald patch on her head and the hair on her back is really thin and never grown back. A few months ago she started with round, red, sore, bald patches on her sides about four in total. From the vets she tried antibiotics, cream, shampoo and special flea/worm treatment but they didnt get any better, she then had a bt which was clear and scappings which showed dermodex mite. She has been having a special bath at the vets for the last 4 weeks, 1 bath a week and they are slowly improving, she has just had another scrape but showed the mite still, so 4 more weeks of baths and fingers crossed scrapes will be clear this time (need 2 clear ones to stop baths). She is sleeping like a log now though, before she was really restless and up and down like a yoyo all night as i asume it was irritating her.

Hope this might help
