I have three newfs and i use the same blaster on the page westcoast has sent you and it works very well.
I have had it for 5 years and its used at least once every week and so far it hasnt broke down or gone wrong.

do you groom your own newfy's and if so what the easiest approach, do i start from neck downwards leaving head till last on bathing and when drying do i start at the back and then the legs and tail and then the head have not got a clue. just thought i would ask, no doubt i will be wetter than them.

I always start at he tail and work forwards, leaving head til last and being really careful not to get shampoo in the eyes and ears.  Wetting the head will cause them to shake and you will get wet.  I find it a whole lot easier with another person on hand but it can be done alone (it just takes longer and I get even more wet!)

Make sure you brush the dogs through thoroughly before bathing and you'll probably find you need to brush again after they're dry as bathing & drying will loosen up the dead fur which will then easily be removed.  I'd use conditioner on furnishings and tail as it helps prevent matts forming and makes them much more manageable when brushing.

When drying, I start at the tail and work forwards as well (but I don't think it really matters how you do it), brushing through with a large pin brush at the same time (helps to get rid of some of that loosened up dead fur).

same here Shanlola,
although if after your bath DO NOT come or brush wet hair as it weakerns it and can break it off leaving a rough finish.
If you are trimming i would also do this before a bath so you can get rid of all the lose hair plus if you cut the coat wrong it can help cover up mistakes if you cut first.
I dont know if you have it but i found a great book called newfoundlands today in my local book shop. Its by Del and Hedd richards, themselveres owners - breeders of newfoundlands ( for many years) which i found very helpful as it has a whole section about grooming ( baths and trimming ) ears and feet as well as for the show ring.
One thing is for sure you WILL get wet when bathing a newf.
And its bloodly hard work so you wont need to go to the gym ever again!
