never had this prob but i think it might be becasue the pups have got a bit of the anaesthetic, not sure though.

you'll do ok, don't panic, just keep them warm and keep getting them on the nipples.

big hug for you and your girl and your babies

My bitch had a c-section 6 years ago. Yes, the pups can suffer after effects from the anaesthetic. Keep them warm and keep trying to put them to mum. If they get really cold the easiest way to keep them warm is to put them in a very warm place on your body (I used to carry a couple round in my bra  ;-) )That way they are getting body heat and you can tell if they are still very cold or are warming up nicely. It was only for a day or two as by then they have started to feed properly and mum has started to take over.

My sisters girl had a c-section a couple of years ago, she had 3 pups born naturally and 1 be c-section, the 1 born by c-section was cold for a while and was slow to feed compared to the others, we kept him warm, it took him a couple of days but he eventually got there, hes 3 this year :-)

Fingers crossed yours pick up.

Glad to hear you're doing ok - fingers crossed for the little one. I had 2 that were slow to get going. One of them I actually thought had died a couple of times, but he pulled through and qualified for Crufts a few years ago when the owner was showing him. Just remember to get some sleep yourself :-)

Hi skye,
Hard work! but as you know cold is the main killer of puppies. Have you not got a heat lamp? or could some one loan you one untill the pups are 10days old.
I keep my pups at 90deg I have a thermonitor on the side of the welphing box. Then higher it as the weeks go on. The pups will huggle together if they are cold and spread all over the box if they are warm. Hold them on  to feed make sure they have some milk. I also hold the bowl up to mom to eat and drink for the first few days after a c/section.
as it does knock them about for a while. I gave my bitch glocose also in milk. You wont to make sure that her milk keeps coming.
(When I had a c/section it knocks you about more than a normal birth.)
Make sure she does not lay on her babies as her tummy will be a little numb as well as sore.
Keep them warm and drinking they will be fine.
I have just finished that. slept down with them for 16 nights then had a baby alarm in there welphing box for the next weeks just taken it out now, they are out of there welphing box.
Congratulations on your babies.

I have pups just under two weeks old and my biggest problem has been that they were too hot.  I only started using the Vet Bed in the last 3 days.

Hi Barbara,
I had the same trouble but mine were in the veranda, it was a nightmare during the day fans checking temp, every hour. but! the nights did go cold they are 5 weeks now.
The weather is so mixed. I did find it harder to keep them cool than warm.
