Can anyone tell me how to get the smell of cat urine out of a woolen axminster carpet?.

Hi Mick, I use a product called Odour-Kill made by Vet-Tek - freephone 0800 3 766 577
And although I may be a woman but I'm not that good at cleaning. The Odour-Kill is a natrual product and seems to do no harm to wool carpets at all, have used it for years, also OK to spray on the hedges and plants in the garden where your dogs sent mark - works a treat. Ja:)kie

Don't forget, it's not just the carpet too, but whatever that's under it which can hold the odor sometimes -- padding, wood, mat, etc.... If you can, clean underneath your carpet too.

Oh --- BLOT! Don't rub! Something hubby has trouble remembering

I use Bissell's LIttle Green Machine which is much better than sponging it up by hand... Saved many a carpet over the years with it :)
good luck,
toodles

I can clean under the carpet no problem its a hall runner and I have removed it to the shed and there is no smell now. Only in the shed.

If you manage to get it odor free, my congrats. Cat Pee ranks right up there with the most difficult 'stains' to get out. I think it could be used as a chemical weapon ;) :)

For small areas of carpet and upholstery I found a product you can buy in Tescos called Power. It costs about £3.49. It is really good and smells of lavender. It is especially good for those sneaky little leg cocks up the side of the settee!!!! They do a full range of Power products for bathrooms and kitchen aswell. They cost a bit more than normal cleaning products.Jan

"Bac to nature" make a brilliant spray they have a website too.
Also if you have focus DIY they have a good machine you can hire for your carpets called rug doctor its very reasonable to hire and its easy to use.

Hello Mick, I use Shaws stain & odour treatment from the pet shop it works really well on stains, it smells a bit like vinegar and has some kind of enzyme to digest biological stains and odours. Its the only thing that i find works on dog vomit/bile stains.
