I went last night for the third time.  It's just so much fun, although the stage show is even better.  I think it'll turn into something like the Rocky Horror with audience participation and dressing up, it's got all the ingredients.

I really want to go and see this, been meaning to for weeks. Is it something I need to have a girly night to see or would OH enjoy it?
- By Dill [gb] Date 06.08.08 09:21 UTC
I went to see it last week, this week OH suggested taking Little-Un.  We'll go when the queues have disappeared, at the moment they're still around the building after the film has started

I think it depends on what your OH expects and likes, if he'd watch other musicals he'd probably be OK :-)

ETA - whe I went last week I was surprised at the number of men who were there :-)  with their girlfriends! or wives!  so not too girly then :-)

Well OH managed to sit through Bridget Jones at the cinema so will drag him along to this too!!!!:-D

I hadnt seen the musical on stage, so I didnt know what it was all about.  But, when I went to see it in theaters, I loved it.  I wasnt to excited about seeing that movie at first, but I laughed and laughed and laughed.  Awesome.

I went with daughter and niece then took my depressed friend .I laughed as much 2nd time as first time.
My friend reported it as being "just what the doctor ordered!".

I found I enjoyed it even more the second time. I noticed more of the subtle inuendo and facial expressions- will have to go again , I think! It is great entertainment, the laughter and happy atmosphere in the cinema, the lively music etc means you come out on a real high. I too have been surprised at number of males in the audience- they certainly seem to enjoy it. Our litttle local cinema, has now extended the run into it's third week.

it was better than i thought, some bits were a touch cheesy, but overall i enjoyed it! went with my mum and sister, was full of women, maybe 2-3 men in there !
good for a girly night i suppose!
- By bilbobaggins [gb] Date 07.08.08 11:37 UTC
I think it was the cheese that made it funny.
Pearce Bronson sang so badly and he knew it... The second time I went there was a group of women who kept singing. I did find that a bit annoying, but I think I was alone in that, says more about me than them !!

>Pearce Bronson sang so badly and he knew it.

I think this is why it worked sooo well :)   There's nothing like someone so successful being willing to show something they know do badly in public ;)  It made the character seem so vulnerable :)  when he sang he was literally laying it all on the line!

I've never been a fan of musicals and I think this one is so different because the less than brilliant singers haven't been dubbed :-D

I still haven't been. OH will do anything to get out of taking me to the cinema to see it. He went and crashed the quad and broke a bone in his neck.
- By Astarte Date 09.08.08 14:19 UTC
god, hope he's ok?

anyway, terrible excuse though, he'll be sitting down!!

hmmm... on second thoughts he may have a prob with the urge to dance....
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 09.08.08 14:20 UTC
I did tell him I thought it was a really bad excuse!!!!!:-D

ETA:He is in alot of pain though and spaced out on painkillers which don't seem to be doing anything.
- By Astarte Date 09.08.08 14:25 UTC
poor thing, hope he heals quickly.

quads can be so dangerous can;t they? they are brilliant things but seem to be the smallest distraction away from really dangerous- i know a guy who's uncle broke his back flipping his when up a mountain! he crawled back down!

hope he's getting lots of gentle mastiff hugs, best cure for anything :)

Flippin' Nora! that's a bit extreme!

Hope he's OK

Flippin' Nora! that's a bit extreme!

I know if he'd just explained how much he didn't want to see it I'd have just gone on my own! No need to put himself in hospital!!!

On a serious note, he is in alot of pain and can't really move.

On a more cheerful note because he can only stare straight ahead it means I can stand at the side of him and pull faces when he annoys me and he can't see me!!!!:-D

Tell you our house at the moment has a BIIIIIIIIIG black cloud over it I think.

ETA:He has also torn ligaments which at a guess is causing him more pain than the little broken bone!!!
