Have Fun! Companion Shows are held for Charities, so whatever happens you will have done a good thing.
Relax, talk to your dog (it will help steady your nerves at the same time),Smile, it releases a chemical in the brain which helps you to relax.
Enter the fun classes too; handsomest dog/best 6 legs/waggiest tail etc. will all get you totally hooked and if you win a rosette,Wow! If it is a Red one then double Wow! within a short time you will be wanting to enter at Champ shows.
Good Luck

Dont be intimidated by the people who stand in the ring bragging about crufts and how many wins they have had - if their dog was that good then they wouldnt be eligible to enter a companion show !
thanks for your help! I am both excited and nervous. I am sure I will be fine, I have competed with horses and never thought anything about it. Murphy will love it, he loves people and dogs so he will be in his element. Just hope he isnt too rowdy!
I did my first companion show a few months ago we had a great time, Abi loved it and came home with a few rossettes including a red one!! We have now caught the bug and have done an Open Show since and are off to a champ show at the weekend!
Have fun and enjoy it you'll soon get the bug!
On the rowdy front I too was very nervous that Abi would be the naughtiest there and she probably was but no one minds its all a good experience for you and the dog.

Just to let you know that dogs who have got their Junior Warrant, got a Reservce CC or a CC won't be able to enter a companion show.

Not the pedigree classes anyway - I've only ever found one show where a CC etc winner can't go in 'Handsomest Dog', 'Waggiest Tail', 'Best Sausage Catcher' etc. :-)
