Topic Dog Boards / General / Oban Passed His Canine Good Neighbour test

It's not quite the same as your UK test.  Here is the CKC CGN.  I only did it because the test was close and it was good practise.  And he did things (ok, I did things, :)) that I thought were not good but the evaluator said he accomplished the main goal of behaving properly with a strange person and dog.  So she passed him.  He is nine and half months old now (black Lab) and I am very pleased with him.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

Such an accomplishment, wonderful.  I want to get my girls done, but trying to find one close by (that isnt outside - I hear part of it is off leash).

Congrats again, give you and your dog a pat!!!!

Thank you both.  We suspended all training for a couple of days and I took him to a new spot, (new to him) for a good long off leash walk Sunday morning and an ice cream treat Sunday evening.

Our test was outside but the only off-leash part I think would not be a big worry.  In the stay/recall we put the dog on a long line the tester provides.  Stay the dog, walk away to the other end of the long line, which has been laid out on the grass. Turn and call the dog, clip on your own leash that you've taken with you.  If you heard your dog bolting off somewhere behind you could step on the long line.  I would hope the evaluator would yell at you to do that if she saw the dog making a break for it.
