Dont panic!! the boys are really easy just do what your son usually does! Im a scout leader's (30 years man & boy) wife. They get paired up and a trip to the pictures (Wall-e) is on!. A pizza and computer games, kick a ball around or even shopping is all new. The next jamboree is in that neck of the woods and your son may be attending that one. Scout kids are like your own, most do english from about 7 years old and speak it really well. Re dogs I expect it will be fine (hopefully) your son has told him that your a dog owner!! mind you knowing boys that may have slipped his mind.At least its just a weekend!! Ive done 17 years with OH and 9 years with Ben, he's a trainer for the scouts now!! mountain biking !! so the trend continues........ Got a tent? shove them in the garden for a night if your desperate!!

They are at Lincs poacher at the moment camping eating and cooking with them, so they know each other already.
They were meant to be goin over there next year but because of the Jamboree (they went to switzerland last year (Kadestag??) they are going the year afterwards!!
When James rang,  I did get him to tell Skip to make sure he likes dogs. And Skip spoke to Danish leader o that is confirmed :)
I have just never done anything like this before!!!! I do coach kids athletics, but I hand them back after an hour or 2. Never for a weekend LOL
(I think after 7 nights in a tent on roll mats they will both be longing for their beds!!!)
Any more adice whistler will be very much appreciative :)

I was really anxious first time Ben brought an italian boy home (exchange trip), but he was great. The boys did most of what they usually do games, football, pictures and eat! they eat for Britain at that age. Kandlsteg ! I think its where OH and his lot went one year. This weekend they all go to summer camp in Somerset, bed to myself, and remote control all mine!! Mind you this year Jake (BC) cant go so two doggies for am and pm walks.
Last year he took 110 to camp in the New Forest (100 years anniversary) and his mate Chris went with 35,000 to Gloucester to the Jamboree. Oh offer to let him phone home, he probably will not do it, but it might be nice for his parents!!
I would expect a good bath would go down well if they have been roughing it! if they are anything like Ben (might not have unwrapped his soap yet!!).
Relax, think of him as an extra son for a weekend, they should entertain themselves ok especially as they know each other already.

kids on the continent are taught english from a very early age so i wouldn;t panic on that score.

It will be easy peasy Lea, especially as the boys have already palled.  My sister has between 2 and 5 foreign students all year round and the agency tries to never have more than one of each nationality to ensure they use their English.  Plus she has an au pair and she loves having them all................well most of them :-)

Well he arrived here at 3pm yesterday. ~His name is Kristoffer, 14 yo, same height as me, (5'11") a swimmer whos aim is to come back for 2012 olympics doing butterfly :)
By 3.40 I realised he didnt like Ebba   So I have been keeping them apart :(
I was really Peeved  :( But he then redeemed himself by being sooooo polite and nice, putting the toilet seat down, spraying after going to toilet etc etc :) :)   He speaks quite a bit of English Enough to understand most of what we have said  :) :)
I hope he has enjoyed himself LOL
We went ito Sleaford today which didnt take very long LOL think I bored him senseless!!! Took him to the local weatherspoons for Full English Breakfast  :) He didnt know what sausages were, but polished all of his breakfast off, so hope I have showed him some English culture!!!  He did say the local church is bigger and more elaborate than Denmark.
We have been to the scout hut tonight and had a bbq and met the leaders etc.
I have to drop him off in the moirning at 8.15 at another parents house  as I am working.
It hasnt been as bad as I thoughtm, and the dogs havnt been too bad as I have stayed in the kitchen with them or took them into my bedroom with me  and brought them into living room once he had gone to bed :) etc etc
I was so worried, and heart sank when he didnt like Ebba, but actually I would do it again, but only for 2 days because of the dogs!!!!
Our scouts will now go to Denmark in 2010 to their national scout camp :) :)

I really don't think you can reasonably ask for anything more :-)

I thinkj I have found the perfect man to be LOL Bless him he is great :) Just wish I knew if he was enjoying himself or told all his mates he has been bored to pieces all weekend!!!! LOL I did have alot to live up to as he has been to 14 camps and Lincolnshire poacher was the best yet :)
I did think he was grown up until he went on sat on scout leaders knee LMAO bless him :)
Most of Danish scouts seemed to be nearly 6'!!!! they dont make them small over there LOL :) and I thought my son was tall at 5'9" at 13!!!!

Put your name down for some more.  My sister is expecting a 33 year old Italian next week :-)  Still, like she says, he may be short and hairy :-D
- By Lea Date 03.08.08 21:19 UTC

And where exactly does one put ones name down for a 33 year old Italian if one was, hypothetically speaking of course, in the market for such a thing? :-)

I'll send you the address of the agency, ShaynLola, and you can suggest to them that N.Ireland would be an exciting and interesting new place for their students :-)
