Gosh, I am in a dilemma. One of my puppies went to his new home last Monday and she has just rang to say that both herself and her baby are allergic to him. (not had dogs before so didn't realise) What would most people do in this situation? She wants to bring him back as the baby is getting worse, but what would you do with regards to a refund? Obviously I have now got to advertise him again, he is now 10 weeks old.

As it's within a week I'd give a full refund.
However you might prefer to refund half now and the other half when you've found him his next home.
I think you have to have him back as soon as possible. I wouldn't think the money was that much of a priority if the child is suffering! Perhaps you can agree on a figure -after you have re-advertised him and obviously had to keep him for another couple of weeks or so. Dreadful situation - but I think you need to act quickly.

Thanks everyone she is bringing him back this afternoon and I am giving her a full refund. He has been given his first injection and microchipped, but I have not offered to refund for those, do you think that is right, or am I just being mean? I just need to find him a new home now. I think everyone who was on my reserve list is sorted now, so he will go back on here. :(

make saw you get the kc papers back along with the mircochipped papers beacuse the dog will be in her name for the chip and if he gets lost he be return to her.
then ring up the pet log tell the sitaution and readdress him when founda new home.
give her a recipt back in red ink for the refund

I would give a full refund now but only for the price initially paid not for any extra expenses. Sadly this kind of thing does happen to any breeder but when a pup is returned so quickly, I think it's fair to refund immediately (ensuring as someone else has said that all the paperwork is also returned). There is a section on the back of the Petlog form that the current owner needs to sign (changing ownership) so ask her to do that if poss as it makes it easier to transfer the microchip details to a new owner)

You will need to get her to change the microchip details as same thing happened to me (close family bereavement) and they wouldn't change it for me.

Problem is she has sent the KC papers off to transfer ownership and as he only went last Monday, she hasn't got them back yet. I have e-mailed the KC, but not sure if they will be able to stop the transfer or not. I will definitely get her to sign the petlog form, thanks.
