Back on the 27th of JUN our girl had to have a general for a procedure. She was due to blow her coat around the 6th or 12th of JUL. True to form she started to let it go on the 10th of JUL. (She's long double coated breed.)
This week it is just coming out of her in clumps as she walks. After a 45 minute session WED, it seemed there wasn't a hair left on her. But, it's still coming out, so she is getting bathed today to get it all out so the regrowth can start.
She usually does a heavy blow in the summer, lighter in the winter.
My question is, she is going to have to go under a general again probably very soon to try to clear up the problem. (It's nothing very major, just a problem with the duct in the eye blocking.)
Does anyone have any major experience with this...is it going to cause more of a coat loss? Are we going to be writing off the rest of the showing season?

I personally haven't had this problem but I do have a short coated breed. But I do know a few rough collie people in the area and one of them did have one bitch do the same when she had to be put under to get an imbedded seed out of her paw (very minor but she wouldn't keep still while awake). She didn't get her coat back to it normal cycle for months, only found out because I asked why she hadn't brought her along to a couple of local club shows. So I would say they way she has reacted to the first op could happen after a second op.
Hope everything clears up soon so you can get back to normal

Actually I've read and heard before that they do have coat loss after anesthesia so I was prepared. It was good the timing coincided with her blowing coat any way. Funny though, my previous bitch was under it several times and never lost her coat (same breed).
I honestly don't know what to do or expect. If I had it my way I'd kick back and take the rest of the year off. DH isn't that way inclined and thinks she'll have it back in the usual time.
I do wonder if going under again will cause more loss.
Thanks for your experiences! :)
