A puppy owner of mine has emailed me to tell me that she is in season, they want to get her spayed. I know there are down sides to havinh it done early in males but what about girls, and i know it should be done two months after season. She will be one in sept, how time flies.

The best time is as close to the half way time between seasons, but as this is her first you can't really tell that, can you :-)
I'd give her a couple of months and then make the appointment.

Usually they spay around 2 - 3 months after the season. However this sounds like a first season so age should still be considered.
Is the pup a young season (only 5 months old) or a late first season (18 months old) ? Reason I ask is you pic is a large breed and young season tend to happen in large dogs.
If the pup is still young I still wouldn't recommend them taking her yet as the anaesthetic carries more risk if they are not fully grown so they may need to wait a bit longer.

she is 11 months old and this is her first season

Then in three months time she should be fine for spaying, provided she's showing no signs of phantom pregnancy.
