We might be able to get away sometime between 1st and 12th August but just don't have any fixed ideas of where to go.  The dogs can stay with my parents if need be so it could be abroad but neither of us like hot weather, neither do we have much spare cash so somewhere cheapish and no hotter than this country would be perfect (somewhere in this country would be fine as well).  We are not really bothered if we go for a few nights to a city or a week somewhere and not do very much.  I realise this is not very helpful but we are running out of time and I just want to book something so we know we are actually going.  If anyone has any ideas at all I would be very grateful.

im just back from a week in the lake district, bowness, and it was great, weather was beautiful, was reasonably dog friendly, took him loads of beautiful walks, and loads of lovely pubs and restaurants.

well we did a last minute and went to alcudia in Spain, just for a week, was extremely hot and very expensive out there, i don't think the euro is too good a the moment, was nice but i think spains just not for us especially as i got burnt roten (totally my fault made sure the kids were factored up but not myself) i had to spend a few nights smothered in youghart which was meant to ease it according to a local, think he was just having a laugh at the silly Brits because it didn't seem to work that well and i just smelt like off milk in the morning

Sorry I haven't been back to thank you for the suggestions but wireless is not always reliable!!  We have now booked a few days near Ross on Wye - basically stuck a pin in the map.  I would love to go back to Edinburgh sometime but we fancied somewhere we hadn't been and decided we couldn't be bothered to fly anywhere.  Of course now little Dizzy is poorly (see health) we will probably have to cancel anyway!!
