My foster girl gave birth to 3 dead puppies 2 weeks ago, we had a few bad days but then she was fine, all her milk dried up and she was back to normal.
Yesterday i noticed her teats looking very large and full again, this morning she was sick and now she has milk leaking from her teats, iv rang my vet hes coming out this evening, but im so confused as to why this is happening, anyone have any ideas?

I have only had this once before but that was when one of our bitches gave birth to only 1 stillborn pup, her milk dried up after an injection from the vet.  Then 2 days later her milk was back and there was a wet dead pup in her bed which she had given birth to overnight so back to vets for another injection to dry her up.
So maybe she has another pup in there that the vet hasn't noticed?  It does seem a bit unusual that there has been such a big gap.

But my heart goes out to you, I remember how hard this whole was to go through.  The only thing I can say is 2 years later she gave birth to a happy litter of 4, the norm for my breed.

Hope she is well again and let us know what the vet says.

Thanks for your reply, shes due to be spayed on wednesday, this is the most emotional fosterer iv ever had, hopefully we will get her sorted quickly.

Hope all went OK. Was there another dead pup left inside? Hope she's OK.

Hi ashleigh, every rescue is different, i started fostering a few years ago a had a home check done, lots of meetings with the rescue staff and assessments to make sure i was suitable, it took quite a while before i had my first foster dog but its so worth it.

Sasha was checked last night, she had a scan couldnt see any pups, she had a jab to help dry the milk up and is on strong antibiotics, shes due to be spayed soon as well.
