my sis is being induced tomorrow, yipee! but shes still struggling with a name... impending baby is definately a wee boy (they got a 3d scan done, he looks really like his brother lol!)

anyway, his big brothers name is Kai and it needs to be something similarly unusual but not weird to go, any suggestions? please bear in mind this poor boys middle name is going to be stanislav.

i like Lucan as he was also one of king arthurs knights (like kai), his dad likes milo but georgies now taken against it, my mums banned from suggestions cause she keeps winding my sis up and my dads in a huff as she won't be having him on my grans birthday :)

one of my best mates called her boy Caleb, which I think is a really nice name :)

I'm pretty useless at children's names....
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 17.07.08 07:37 UTC
What about Keenan? Or Kelvin, if she wanted to stay with the 'K'?
- By Snoop Date 17.07.08 10:03 UTC
Ooo....how exciting! Hope you get to meet your nephew soon :-)
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 10:39 UTC
lovely name, but they had a dog called caleb :)
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 10:42 UTC
i think she considered them but went off them both. i sent her a massive list which she liked all off but brother in law not keen. however, he wasn;t mad on kai initially but after seeing georgie deliver him he decided it was up to her :)
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 10:44 UTC
well she went in at 11 to start being induced. apparently now they give you a pessiry (sp?) in your cervix then leave you for 24 hours and 75% start on their own during the time and don't need oxytosin (sp?). its ment to be better for the baby than the old way.

oddly enough a couple of months ago georgie asked kai to pick the day he thought his brother would arrive...today is the date he picked so hoping she kicks off straight away. weird if he did arrive today huh?
- By ali-t [gb] Date 17.07.08 10:55 UTC
it is funny how we all have associations with names e.g. people you were at school with or media stories.  I think Caleb is a nice name but it makes me think of neglected and abused children (Caleb Ness :(  )  I also like Maddie but the Madeleine (sp) McCann story is still very raw.  anyway my fav name for a boy is Callan, if you spelt it with a 'K' it would be kind of like Kai - well sort of!
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 11:05 UTC
thats nice, will suggest :)
- By Dogz Date 17.07.08 12:13 UTC
Do hope your sis is okay.
It's a long hard road she's on, it's not called labour for nothing!
Best wishes for her.
Karen

I have a name for my first born hopefully it will be a boy and were guna call him tristan, have always liked it before stardust came along and its unusual.
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 13:33 UTC
my mum says that to, she says its the hardest work of your life. not to mention the last one was 9.5 lbs and this one looks to be bigger.
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 13:33 UTC
i like tristan to, that and lucan. both were knights of the round table like Kai :)
- By Whistler [gb] Date 17.07.08 15:17 UTC
I wanted a Christian and ended up with a Benjamin (Ben) then had a Samuel (Sam). I think Tai would go with Kai (prehaps a bit close on reflection) we have a Ruben as of Monday night.
I loved Seth but my husband then said it sounded like Sif!!
There all lovely, Katie was having a Jai but when she looked at him he wasn't a Jai but a Ruben!!
- By Astarte Date 17.07.08 15:36 UTC
lol, big difference there! well she's had the pessiry thingy so hopefully any time...
- By pamb Date 17.07.08 19:32 UTC
hi...love the name Kia..
Daughter-in-law thought of that for a boys name and was much favoured by all...

Well New baby grandson was meant to be called Sonny...but he was so dark haired and dark skin when born they decided Bo, every family member said..BO??? as in B O...lol!
its spelt scandanavian way Bo the o with a slash through it! fab name which he so suits it but the spelling of it is a BIG ISSUE!

Bo is now White Blonde Curly haired with his gorgeous dark skin he would have suited Sunny so much!

I also love Cole...Kia & Cole sounds good...

1st son is called Jay...2nd son Joel..and to be honest i have never liked the name Joel...he likes Joel though as his name, i cant even think why i came to call him that....bizarre!

Maddo family huh?

Sending the new Parents and Big Bro & Baby plenty hugs!

well there are rumblings apparently, which are slightly rumblyier than earlier rumblings... (you'd never guess my sis is a very articulate accademic would you? she's off to do her phd after popping out this one lol)

cole is actually on the list

actually bo is quire nice.

welll...entering hour 38 and so far no real news. she was in labour having contractions every 2 mins but not hugely strong ones for ages, apparently at 2am they were going to break her waters and start with oxytocin.

shes knackered the poor thing, she can't have anything except gas and air (which apparently is lovely) because she has Gilberts syndrom. so shes been awake for about 2 days straight and still has the hard work ahead.
- By zarah Date 19.07.08 12:01 UTC
We've been waiting for 2 weeks now  (my sister, not me :-P). Due 2 weeks ago yesterday. She's had her cervix swept 3 times now and went for special baby-inducing acupuncture a couple of days ago but still no sign (although she's been 2cm dilated for 4 days now!). Looks like she's going to be going in to hospital to have him/her which she's rather annoyed about as she had her last baby at home and was planning to do the same with this one.

Good luck to your sister :-)
- By Astarte Date 19.07.08 12:32 UTC
oooh poor thing. this has put me right off babies, gonna stick with dogs.

its gotta be disappointing not having him/her at home.

shes 6cm's now and has the epidural so is sleeping for a bit before the action takes place. apparently she was screaming for a c-section earlier. heres hoping its soon.

out of interest does anyone know where the name cesearian section comes from? i know its not from caesar as is commonly believed

Kaden (or Kaiden or Kayden or a million other spellings) is a name I've heard a few times lately and is quite nice
Any news?

Welcome little man into the world.

Karen :)
- By Astarte Date 20.07.08 09:17 UTC
the last one was 9, 5 and she needed a bit of help with forceps, this one she managed by herself. very proud of her, she must have been knackered
- By zarah Date 22.07.08 22:04 UTC
Congrats to your sis Astarte :-)

My second niece has just been born :-D :-D Not sure of the weight yet, but she's called Tabitha Emily. 18 days overdue, my sister was meant to be going into hospital early tomorrow morning to be induced, but has had her at home as planned at almost the final hour.
- By ali-t [gb] Date 23.07.08 08:59 UTC
well done to your sister, hopefully she doesn't come up with a name while she is exhausted and sleep deprived or it could be something weird and not very wonderful. lol
- By scarlettwynter [gb] Date 23.07.08 10:13 UTC

- By Astarte Date 23.07.08 14:03 UTC
