any rough ideas how much a move will cost? either with us packing or them doing it all? would be a short distance.

Just doing that - we have packed and moved all boxes it is just furniture and the cheapest was £611.   That includes moving our son's furniture from his place because he is having our place.  Does depend on the volume of furniture though.  Highest quote was £1200. 

Some companies are happy to give you a ball park figure over the phone.  They calculate the quote based on number of rooms, garage, shed, garden furniture etc then add the distance to your new house.  Most wouldn't allow you to book them without coming round for a proper assessment but it's enough to give you an idea about whether you might want to do your own packing or ask them to do it.
