Jake has had his op and he has had samples of his lymph nodes sent away for investigation. Plus samples from his bad foot, any idea why his lymph nodes are enlarged, and what SHOULD I be asking the vet? if anything else?
Any assistance and advise welcome & needed!

I am not trying to frighten you, but unfortunately it could be Lymphoma. I would be asking your Vet does he suspect that it is. He is right to be sending a biopsy away as you need to know what you are dealing with.
Um that was my first thought, mainly because my Mum died of cancer. I was hoping it may be an infection in his foot that caused it. Thanks for your prompt response, its like having babies again they can't tell you whats wrong he is only 15 months old.

Well, I for one will be praying that it is only an infection. Mind you, if he does have an infection then his lymph glands will be enlarged. Everything crossed here.

this happened to my boy to so he had one removed and sent off.
Turned out that it was enlarged because he was fighting a bad inner ear infection.
I know what you are going though as the 5 days we had to wait for the results seemed endless.
Fingers crossed for you both.

Are all his lymph nodes enlarged, or just the ones round his bad foot?
Lymphoma can cause it if it is all the nodes - if it is just the ones in the area near the bad foot it might just be infection - or even sometimes with all of them. Fingers crossed.

My mum had an infected finger and she had pain in the whole of her arm and the lymph nodes in her armpit were enlarged because of it.

With the pus coming out of his foot it sounds like he could have an infection in his foot and the lymph nodes swell as they try to fight off the infection. Keeping my fingers crossed that that is all it is and that he starts to feel better on antibiotics.
Its hopefully just an abcess, he is as miserable and mopey as sin. Whenever I get Whistler ready for a walk he's there like a rocket and looks so mournfull when I leave him.
He didn't eat last night so I took it away until late at night and he ate then which was a relief as his antibiotics and metcam were init. I may not give him Metcam tonight as he is jumping around and I am worried he may cause more problems with his foot. If it hurts a wee bit it may slow him down? what do you think?
He seems ok in himself otherwise, poohing and weeing fine. OH has walked him about 100 yards or so and he has been to every site meeting with OH in the truck - he has his seat belt on and all the windows open which seems to keep him amused. Especially with his bright florescent green bandage thing!!
Tomorrow he has a 2o'clock appointment to take it off and have another look. We may have some results then so fingers crossed its just an infection. My OH loves that dog to bits and you should hear him "sweet talk" him when they are alone!!!! he's even got a "special" voice!! I thought I was a softie, but he's as soft or softer, its so much worse when they can't tell you how they feel isnt it?

Poor boy :-( I hope he's feeling a bit brighter.
I can understand your concerns about him hurting his foot but I'd personally continue with the Metacam for now. It's a good thing that his foot is comfortable and if he's not in pain he'll continue to eat well.
Good luck :-)
Yes I did dose again last night today he took his own bandage off!! he has about a 1/2 inch cut in his pad but its all clean so OH will take him at 14:00 to the vet and see what he suggests to keep it clean. I hope we may have some results as well and thats it is all clear. Antibiotics are being taken ok and I think we have about another 5 to 6 days so alls well so far. He is bored though so a short walk woud help but not with an open pad!!

Ooops! :-)
I'm glad he's on the mend :-)

Glad all's going well. :)
Seems to be going well all his tests are looking ok 1 more to come back. We have resorted to a black sock to stop him worrying his foot, he has to have it washed off with a disenfectant twice a day.
We went off to the Beach yesterday (pebbley one) and he chased sticks in the sea, I think it stung a bit but he came our OMO white. Back tom the car and two adult ice creams and 2 child size for the dogs. What a life these two do lead.
Im hopeful that we may resume walks shortly, but the "slit" in his pad is about half an inch long so we are trying to keepout of grip, mud and other nasty bits that may dig in his foot. After the beach it was the first time he ate with any appitite really he gets so bored. He's just gone off on a site visit to Reading Police Station so that will give him some traffic to look at.
Whistler will be glad when his mate is back to chasing mode rather than moping mode.
Thanks for your encouragement. Ive told OH is he breaks him again I may stop him playing with him. Another £500+ this time, his OCD was £3,000. So so glad we are insured.

This all sounds really hopeful. I am sure the antibiotics will do the trick. Great news.
