Anyone got any tips on how to sort one out???
It started hurting on tuesday (hit a bar with a fence panel and joked to our work experience lad that he had given me whiplash, I shouldnt have joked!!!)yesterday it hurt but not too bad. But decided not to run with the juniors last night as just a bit of jogging was hurting it.
Then 5.30 am I woke and couldnt move my neck. So I took Ibuprofen and it eased, But didnt ease enough to go to work:(
I am putting muscle rub on my neck (I knew all the sachets I got in goodie bags after races would coime in useful!!!!)
ANy other tips anyone???

Hot bath or some kind of heat pressed against it, hot water bottle maybe or warm scarf?! My dad recently trapped a nerve in his shoulder & was in asbolute agony with not even morphine helping! all he could find relief in was turning the shower on maximum power & heat & directing it onto his shoulder!

Hope it gets better soon!! Maybe someone will offer you a nice massage?!! :)

After having bottles dropped on my head by an airhostess 4 years ago I suffered with a similiar problem plus loss of full use of my arm.  Couldn't lie down for 5 months due to severe neck and shoulder pain, after 7 months of physio, accupuncture etc. finally started to get better, now just have the occasional twinge but still don't have proper feeling in my right thumb.

Didn't complain at the time.  Didn't even think the severe sickness the same night had anything to do with it and the problems started about 5 days later!!

Actually he may have   more information here http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/whiplash.htm

Hope you are better soon, but you may need to get checked out if it gets worse, you never know what damage may have been done ;)

Dont know if it will 'reach the parts.....' but I'm rubbing on Voltarol gel directly onto my busted knee and feel the effects much quicker than if taken by mouth ( and no sickie feeling either). It's an over the counter med and a pretty safe anti- inflam.
It may give you some relief.
Good luck.

Dont worry its not whip lash after reading that article. Its on the left hand side of my neck Just below the hair line, so deffinatly muscular.
Thanks for the advice. I have been layng on the sofa on that side to keep it warm.
Taken Ibuprofen and keep rubbing warming muscle rub on it.
It not easing though :(

Lea you may be better using a cold pack rather than keeping it warm all the time as by warming it you are increasing the blood flow to the area, which will not be helping the inflamation. Heat treatments are for chronic conditions, ice packs are for the acute stage i.e. within the first 48 hours. You could also try arnica
