Does anyone know anything about this? can a puppy recover to be a healthy adult with no ongoing problems? In other words would I be daft to take on a pup that has this condition. She would only be a neutered pet, so no problems in that respect

think a lot of breeds are prone to it, my pup has a slight case as a young pup, cleared up after a week or two, no treatment required. how old is the puppy in question and how bad is the condition? as far as i know there are no ongoing problems into adulthood but i may be wrong.

She's 7 weeks and was quite bad, glands swollen although steroids have cured that but the face and ears are still very sore, looks a mess quite frankly:(

With the correct antibiotics, steroids, proper care of any open sores and loads of TLC there is no reason your pup shouldn't go on to have a full and happy life.

Having had a Papillon pup at 12 weeks  with Pyoderma (developed 1 week after her first vaccination) I wouldn't have any hesitiation in caring for a pup who had it again.  It is easier said once you have experienced something though.

Edited to add:-  Ellie died at 14 months old due to an accident, but I have now doubt that as our vet said she could have easily lived her normal life span without any ongoing problems due to her having had pyoderma.

I knew two Finnish Spitz pups who had this and recovered. It Can cause scarring and areas where the coat doesn't grow properly, and they were a bit stunted, but otherwise perfectly OK, and should be OK as a Pet only.

I would advise getting a thorough health check first on the pup.
