My dog Meg is 4 years old and had 8 puppies 8 months ago.She is now in season fir the first time since pups were born, and her behaviour towards the one pup we kept has been very aggresive. Where she used to play all the time she now just snaps at her . Would anyone tell me if there dog has behaved in this way.

Would have thought she is just pointing out that she is sill top bitch, has the puppy had a season yet if not it is probably on it's way, and you will need to keep a watch on them then. Jackie

Bitches in season can get grumpy, and with the raging hormones will indulge in mounting behaviour, which the other bitch may not appreciate, or may take as a challenge to her superior role. This can be a time when a tiff can become nasty if you do not intervene.

I once had 3 bitches in season together within days of each other, and the behaviour was very flighty and could easily have got out of hand. I did quite often have to bellow at them to settle down, and not annoy each other.
