I just wondered what everyone does really about puppy space!  How long do you keep the box up for?  Do you keep it up and then extend the area with a puppy pen, or do you do away with the box and just have a pen with a sleeping area and playing/toilet area?  My pups are just starting to climb out of the box now, and I'm not sure what to do.  Last time I put the box away and just had a pen, but I'm thinking it might be nicer for them to keep the box and have the pen as well.  What do you all do?

I'm just about to take the front of the box off, and fence the area with puppy panels. I will put the cage in the area too so the pups can be put somewhere while I clean up :) They will have plenty of room to roam around in without getting under our feet :)

Our box is still up with a pennd area around so pups have space to play, wee etc. They are 5 weeks now and still use box to sleep although a few do tend to sleep outside box aswell

When I think mine will be able to climb out of the box I move them into the puppy pen and drape it with sheets.

I build a pen around the whelping box once they get to the climbing out stage,  then when they are around 4-5 weeks I take that out to give them more room to play.  They then have a plastic dog bed in.  Also from around 5 weeks they have a pen up in the garden for the day time (depending on the weather of course).
