I've started running! (I cant believe it either!)

Im 'obesely overweight' as the dr would say but I dance, horse ride, bike it to work and now Ive started running! Im starting slow because I dont want to damage my muscles/knees etc and Im doing 1 minute walking, 1 minute running.

Has anyone else started running in this way and are you now managing marathons? :D

My aim is to do the Great North Run one day!

Well I did start running and have stopped as the cani-cross season is over, but I've promised myself that I'm going to start again this weekend.

I'm in the "overweight" category and would like to lose about 2 stone, so healthy eating etc. is definitely starting tomorrow.  Don't know how long I'll last though.

Someone who had a puppy from me a couple of years ago lost 6 stone jogging with the dogs and now does marathons with her and has in fact now got a older dog with my breeding who needed rehoming.

I'm doing something even better!  I started a new job on Monday as a Postie!!  Absolutely love it but it's v. hard work, so I'm guaranteed to be very fit soon!

Whay hey BRILLIANT :D :D :D
Well done you :) :)
Yes, thats the way to start. Run/walk.
and increase the amount you run each time :)
I had done no running at all EVER when I started over 3 years ago. I turned up one thursday night and ran about a mile totasl of a 3 mile course. I then went out every other night run/walk on a 1 mile route.
Within 4 weeks I ran the whole of the 3 mile route without stopping, and by god the other runners knew I had when I got back LOL
I started in the April, and with help of coaches I managed to run Woodhall 10k 2 months later :)
Then have since done several Half marathons (including the great north run :) ) and 1 marathon :)
Have you got any running clubs near you???? Honestly we are not all fast runners, and it is easier to run with people than on your own :) :)
If you dont know about running clubs, Pm me where you live and I will see if I can find out :)
Also if you need any advice give me a shout as I am a coach and work closely with more experienced coaches than myself so if I dont know the answer I can find out LOL
But the best thing you could do is go to a running club :)
Actually no, the best thing you can do is ENJOY IT :) :) :)
Lea :) :)
