Hi again
I recently posted on here when we thought Tyler might have CDRM, Cauda Equina Syndrome or Hip Dysplasia, none of which he has !! We got his blood results back today. Still confused though as are three vets and the pathologist!!. Tyler has not got diabetes or Cushings disease which they thought he might have. Some of his results have come back abnormal though, liver enzymes, albumin and creatinine kinase so tomorrow Tyler is having another x-ray of the spine and a scan of his liver and abdomen. I have convinced myself he has a tumour as our other GSD Harley died two years ago of an aggressive bowel tumour which we were devestated about and still miss him greatly. I really hope Tyler has something that can be treated, I cannot bear to go through this again. Anyway, hopefully will find out more news tomorrow. If the scans and x-rays come back clear tomorrow he is going to see a specialist. I have tried staying really positive until today when I got upset, so will have to pull myself together for the sake of Tyler as don't want him thinking there is anything wrong.

Sending loads of positive thoughts to you Fiona.
I really hope that it is something treatable.
I know its easier said than done but try not to let your mind get too carried away.
I cant imagine how you must be feeling but I wish you and your boy all the best.
Thankyou labmad
Really really trying hard to stay positive. Fingers crossed and will hopefully have some more news tomorrow.

Fiona,
I can't believe you are having such bad luck again....
I just realised who you were when you mentioned Harley..... I am the person who sent you the poem..... :-)
I hope and pray that you find out what is wrong with Tyler and that you have a positive outcome.
PM me if you feel like talking.

Hi
Tyler is home from the vets. They still don't know what is wrong with him!! The vet said that his oesophagus was slightly large and his gall bladder looked a little unusual, but nothing to worry about. He could not see any tumours. He has done a dynamic bile test, where they take his blood, feed him and then take his blood again to see the impact it has on his liver, but he doesn't think it will show anything. He is now referring him to Bristol or Taunton Animal Hospital for further tests. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but hopefully then at least we might find out what is wrong with him. Will let you know how we get on.
Fiona.

Have just seen this. Best of luck with Tyler. At least they've ruled out CDRM. Let us know how you get on.
Thank you. Will keep you posted.

How is he Fiona?
Hi Labmad
Tyler is very tired today, after his anaesthetic yesterday. Apparently they had to bring him round from it as his breathing started to change and his gums went very pale. He seems to be extra stiff today as well, I suppose thats because of all the prodding and poking they did yesterday. We are now awaiting an appointment from Bristol or Taunton Animal Hospital and hopefully they can find out what is wrong with him. It seems like it is a complete mystery to every one. Its so frustrating not knowing, we just want to find out what is wrong and hopefully make him better. Every time I look at him he seems to be getting smaller and it makes me so sad compared to the big bouncy boy he used to be. Will let you know more when we find out anything.
Thanks again.
Fiona.

Hi
I don't know know if they have tested for MG, I know one of the symptoms is being sick after eating or drinking and the vet asked me if Tyler is ever sick which he is not. I will ask the vet though if this is a possibility. Thankyou for your help.

That' only if they've got mega-oesophagus, I know it usually goes hand in hand but just a thought. I hope for your dog it isn't but again it's something that is known of in the breed sadly.
Thanks Perrodeagua
Will be questioning the vet about this when I speak to him next.

Hope everythings OK?
Hi
I spoke to the vet and he had also thought about Myasthenia Gravis and asked the lab to do the test, but apparently it has to be sent to America and takes two weeks. The last couple of days Tyler has not been too great so the vet phoned Bristol Animal Hospital and we have an appointment for next Thursday and will probably have to leave Tyler up there for a while. Absolutely dreading it as we took our other GSD up there exactly two years ago when they found he had an aggressive bowel tumour. At least hopefully we will now find out what is wrong with Tyler and hopefully something that can be treated. Will let you know when he have any news.
Thanks for your support.
Fiona.

Best of luck Fiona. Hope all goes well.
Sarah.
