Hi

Well not me personally but the village.  A peacock has suddenly decided to set up residence in the village and a real topic of conversation it is - but no one seems to want to do anything about it.  The RSPCA don't want to know and someone phoned a wild life place and they said that it will know where it home is and will return there when it is ready and that it is probably on the look out for a mate - well he wont find one here.

Seems quite happy here and it has put a smile on peoples faces but not the man who was woken up at the crack of dawn and had to chase it off with a broom.

In the village where my son & his family live, there is a family of peacocks that are living 'wild'.A few years ago they had some animal organisation out to try to capture 8 that had appeared, but only managed to catch five of them leaving 1 peacock & 2 Peahens. Now their numbers have increased -They come in everyones gardens and usually end up on the roofs. My son's German Shepherd tries to 'evict' the intruders but they just fly onto the roof (they live in a bungalow) and sit and watch him!

How cool is that?

The sound of their call, to me, conjures up, English summers, Pimms, Country houses with their lovely park lands.... oh ...lovely.

How Lovely! Wonder where he has come from? I thought they usually hung about in pairs?
Have you phoned nearby nature reserves etc...to see if they have lost one or some country estates still keep peacocks.

If he's happy and not going to come to any harm Id just enjoy him while you can and try and make sure no harm comes to him

Just watch out in mating season we had about 5 at marwell and they would attck blue cars during mating season as they could see themselves in the reflection and would fight for their ladies!!! Beautiful though but an awful voice.

Hi enquiries have been made to all nearby parks etc but no one want to claim him.  He is very beautiful and very sure of himself.  I hope he finds his way home soon though because I think he might get lonely wandering around the village looking for a mate.  We have gardens open day on Sunday I wonder if he will hang around for that.
