Such wonderful news, I have been watching this thread like crazy! Hoping to hear some wonderful news, and her coming home is definately it!
Big hugs to both you and her. To her, for improving enough to come home (lets hope that it continues upwards) and to you, for the horrid time you have had for a little bit over a week.
Cheers to ya! Definately having a celebratory tea for ya!

I just want to echo everybody else's sentiments. we are all so pleased for you.
SHE'S HOME!!!
laid in the kitchen having a jolly good rest ;)
She is in antibiotics for a week, and I have a tub of sudocrem to put on her sores, which are healing nicely.
She is walking nicely now too, you wouldn't have thought that a few days ago she needed a sling to support her rear.
Am also very impressed with the bill, bearing in mind it cost just shy of £2000 for 4 days at Hull, the final bill in Chester, for 8 days, was just over £3000, and that includes the MRI at £1200. Thank Goodness for pet insurance eh
am off now, need to spend some cuddle-time with my girl :)
So pleased to hear she is home with you again. Give her a big hug from me! :)

Excellent news!
> need to spend some cuddle-time with my girl :-)

So pleased to hear the news and even if you had to pay the bill I bet it would be worth every penny.

Dearlady,Your comments about not being able to remember terminology.
I always ask for a print out of all that finger tapping on keyboards the vets do. They are quite happy to oblige.
Glad to hear your girl is home.

"Welcome home" so glad to hear she is on the mend. Enjoy catching up on all those missed cuddles x
Great to hear that you have almost reached the light at the end of the tunell and your she will soon be at home with you where che belongs. I expect the nurses will miss her. seems they have all bonded with her.

Until your dog is back home where it belongs there is always a 'dog shaped' hole in all the places they like to sit and sleep isn't there?.
I'm so glad your 'dog space' has been re-filled!!
Best wishes to you all
Absolutely fabulous news!!!!!
so very happy for you.

just a quick update - Leah is going from strength to strength, her walking is better every day and she can even run for a short spell (I don't encourage her but she is very strong-willed!)
she's had a couple of "accidents", I don't think she can hold herself very long if she needs a pee, but I'm hopeful that will get better in time
her appatite is strong, and she finishes her ab's tomorrow, so all in all I am very happy with her :)
am now trying to decide whether to take any concerns up with my vet re their initial care of her, or not
again - thankyou all for your interest and support :)

Wonderful news Dearlady. So glad Leah is feeling better and she is well and truly on the mend. Bet you're so relieved :) Best wishes to you all. xx

What a great result. I'm so glad your girl is home and doing so well. :)
Great news re your girl
Think twice before taking any action with your vets. Could this have been a genuine mistake that was easily missed. No point in alienating a good vet (we all know they are few of them) unnecessarily.
oh I know, and I'm not saying they did anything out of maliciousness, I'm just upset as it is obvious they didn't move her about enough, and they left her sitting in her own urine to cause the urine burns! I know she's a big dog, but she's all legs really, she's not as heavy as she looks, and I think it was just easy for them to leave her sat where she was because she "looked bright".
Chester immediately bandaged her areas that were excessively sore, and catheterised her until she regained her bladder control, and they had her out with staff at regular intervals. I can't fault anything they did for her.
Hubby is angry about the bills too, 4 days care in Hull cost the same as 8 days care in Chester, with more being done for her in Chester, I just don't understand it and am not confidant enough to tackle them about it :(

I think a letter laying out the facts just as you have done for us should be sent if only to warn them that their service is lacking the care and attention you have a right to expect. There is not room for sloppy work at a vets and it may well be that the supervision of junior staff is not good enough. It would also not hurt to ask for a detailed account because, you can say, their charges were twice the amount charged at Chester and you wished to know exactly what the charges were for. This is only fair as they may have done expensive tests and checks. However once you have the detailed list you may be in a position to challenge the bill or more likely when asked to give a detailed account they may realise you have been over charged and offer you reimbursement and an apology.

Firstly brilliant news that she is getting better by the day & that she is home
Chestergates staff are excellent take really good care of the pets that they deal with. i would write a polite letter of complaint to the other Vets

Oh, I am so pleased that she is continuing to improve.
Like some of the others have said, I would also be inclined to put in a letter of complaint.

Good to hear that she is doing so much better.
Like others have said, I would too write a small letter of complaint about the urine burns, and also ask for a detailed breakdown of the charges to see why it is so much more money for half the time spent, and it seems Chester did a more thorough job at tracking down the problem.
Again, so glad to hear that she is doing better.
Dear Lady.So pleased your girl is home ,no just how you must have felt ,and how your feeling now,Wishing Leah a speedy recovery.Love Tilly Sacha And gwen
