Not sure how new this is someone just told me about it at work... Was wonder what your thoughts were on it or if anyone has had this done already and if so what were the results or side affect if you don't mind me asking?
http://www.bchealthguide.org/kbase/topic/detail/surgical/hw228372/detail.htmhttp://www.ivf.com/eablate.htmlhttp://www.theberries.ns.ca/archives/endometrial.htmlI usually get pains and was told that I probably have endrometrosis (have had many laproscopies), I do have alot of scar tissue due to many surgeries when I was little. I was also wondering if it lessens your um *** drive at all? Cause def don't wanna mess anything up with that. Was also told no more monthly bills so to speak lol so that would be a great blessing since Iam no longer having children.
Views, comments are welcome just wondering- of course going to be checking more into it since I do have a physical coming up in july so will be asking doctor loads of questions then lol But thought maybe some of you could help :)
i had this done 2 years ago instead of having all my bits taken away, im glad i did as it really worked for me
however i do still get monthly bills(lol) however they are really light and last 2 days
as for lowering my sex drive i would say it has increased it as my monthly bills have lowered.....
hope this helps?

Endometial ablation is carried out inside the uterus so it would not benefit endometriosis which by definition occurs outside the uterus. You may be thinking of cautery of these "chocolate cysts" but I would have thought they would have taken the opportunity to do some of that during your laparosopies. It is not always very successful because you have to find them all or it just keeps reoccuring but it can reduce the impact. The other common treatment is a medical one that brings about an early menopause or more drastically removal of the ovaries.
this op did bring about a temporary menopause for me but after a month on Hrt i was back to normal..
i had this op to prevent really heavy periods and in that respect it worked really well

Yes that is what the operation is for. It will stop or certainly reduce menstuation but that is not the same as the menopause when you stop ovulating which is what is required to stop endometriosis. Confusing isn't it, even for women? :-)
Ah, I wonder if you were prescribed a drug such as Prostap temporarily before the procedure.
I had very heavy monthly bills, played havoc with my life and wore me out. Due to exisiting medical condition, I am not allowed the suggested hysto. So the treatment you state was suggested, along with the mirena coil. I don't have endrometrosis, and nothing could be seen on the laproscopies that could be causing this. long and heavy bills plagued me for years, but the Pill helped. That was stopped many years ago. I decided to try the mirena, which does take a while to 'kick in' but it is fantastic. For me, it didn't do much for the first 2-3 months, then the monthlies became lighter and less frequent, more like once a month rather than every 2-3 weeks. After about 12 mths they were light monthlies, which went on to get better and now I don't have anything more than a slight day 'show' once a year, so if this is offered to you as being suitable for you then I would say try it, but be prepared to wait for the results. No side effects except more energy, no lowering of libido, and it even helped with PMT, although sometimes once every 3 months I may feel tetchy for a day, it goes off quickly. And did I have bad pmt every 3 mths! I think its wonderful.
i wasnt prescribed anything before the op!
i was told by 2 doctors at my practise, that i wasnt having a menopause until i demanded a blood test that then came back as positive!
i had the Mirena coil and it was fantastic until i caught an infection (only associated with this coil) and the doctor told me i had to have it removed!
what a load of rubbish my doctor was, as my consultant said i could have it again...who knows what nowadays?

Not everyone is, it would depend on the surgeon.

That was a shame, I have known loads of people use it with no problems.

This is true, one tells you one thing, one something different, whatever it is! Sometimes think the left hand has no idea what the right hands doing :) :)
Hi Dollface,
I have Grade 4/5 endo and have had many laparoscopies, laparotomies and two lots of very extensive surgery. I wouldn't think this procedure would do much if you do have endo but may help to remove some cysts which are common with it.
I can answer any questions that you have about endo, drugs used to treat it etc. Just PM me if I can help in any way.
Gabrielle x

Thanks :)
So far I do get some pains which can be very severe and last a day or two but then goes away- so not sure exactly how bad mine is. Sometimes during Ummmm well it hurts and other times em fine- its weird. My doctor said either endo or just alot of scar tissue cause I never had pains until I had my appendix removed and they thought it was a cyst on my overies (but had 3-4 appendix attacks prior). They drained something 2 weeks before not sure what they drained am assuming infection from my appenix, also put on pills for kidney/bladder infection which I never had, cause once opened up to remove so called cyst was told appendix were burst for almost a week and some. was in hospital for a month with a tube in me to drain the infection. I have a c-section scar and they had to move everything to get to my ruptured appendix which could have been a nice lil scar on my right side, all this at around 14-15yrs old. Every since then have gotten bad pains sometimes where I am doubled over and cannot move- have had about 6 laproscopies, DC, die ran through my tubes to see if I could have children and was told I was lucky if I could, did that at 16 yrs old- thank god have had 2 beautiful children who drive me nuts at time lol- but ya I dunno mostly take pain killers when its bad. I will def bring this up with my doctor and see what she says. Have asked for a hystorectomy but they won't give me one- lol guess I can see why.
(((hugs))) for you - sounds like you've been through the mill, and then some!
men don't know how lucky they are eh ;)
