Do you read all your old favs, or do you chose the new books? I read Kipper, the Old Bear books, Peter rabbit series, a lovely book whos name escapes me, it was like a poem about a little boy on a farm who can't go to sleep, and his mum takes him round all the sleeping animals, which puts him to sleep, Midnight farm or something, it really touched a spot, lovely story. Also lots of easy read books that they read with me....seems so long ago now! lovely times, loved reading to them, seeing them enjoying a story. bedtime, rainy days, outside in the sun...wonderful.

I'm loving these nostalgic threads!
My eldest loved Noddy books and my youngest currently loves Mr Men books, a different one each night. My daughter likes the 'Magic Kitten' stories and anything about horses. It is so lovely reading to your child, and I can remember my Grandpa reading me all the 'Borrowers' books and stories about Mrs Pepperpot. Our family classic favourite is called 'The Shrinking of Treehorn' by Florence Parry Hyde, it is ever so funny and I could read it again and again.

I don't have children but I loved it when my mum used to read us books from the Topsy and Tim series, and also from the My Naughty Little Sister series. My most favourite book was about a family of bears who moved house (can't for the life of me remember the title). Also loved the Roald Dahl stories. Still have most of my childhood books tucked away in boxes - think I'll keep them forever now.

My son loved the Cat in the Hat stories and 'Each Peach Pear Plum'. I tried to get him into Famous Five, Secret Seven books that I loved as a child but he thought them very strange.... how things change.

The last child, it was Harry Potter and let me tell you I really enjoyed it and didn't have to feel silly about reading a childs book.

Karen :)
