Can anyone tell me what bed/mattress brands they have found to be the most reliable/comfortable?

Thanks

:-)

tuffies. they are not cheap but they are good. I got one made to measure for an extra large bed my girls have. I used to have a problem with condensation on the bottom of my previous bed. I dont get this now.

It all depends what you want style, firmness of matress, price and what you find comfortable! The best thing is really to go and try different beds/mattresses to find one you like :) ( very much like shoes- you have to try them for the right fit :-D ) Means bouncing around on the beds a bit but the sales people really dont mind!!

Sorry I should have said the bed is for us not the dogs ;-)

We tried out a few mattresses but we didn't have time to purchase one on our visit. We have bought all our beds withouut trying them before and have only been unlucky with one (silent night divan) so we are quite happy to order one online. We like either the memory mattresses or the ones that have a pillow top...we like beds that are medium hard but you can sink into them a bit (I hope that makes sense?)

Does anyone think Divans are better or worse than bedsteads?

Bedsteads certainly look better IMO but I imagine them to be more 'creaky' after a bit. They are probably healthier bed bug/dust mite wise as there is no base to live in only the mattress itself, and you could always get a mattress protector if that bothered you. The memory foam ones are really heavy and very very expensive. I havent tried one myself but a client of mine got rid of hers as she said it was uncomfortable if you were a restless sleeper and always changed position- you had to wait for the foam to spring back to feel ok again - same with the pillows, the wave ones. On the other hand another client swears by hers! Divans provide you with xtra storage and proberly looks neater than having storage boxes under a bedstead :) If you bought a mattress that was too firm, you could always put one of those really thick pillow top protectors on and sink into that :-D

Divans are easier to move than solid beds.  Some people don't like them with 'skirts' because they look fussy - they do gather dust.  We have a mattress that has the latex topping to it.  Can't say it is any more comfortable and I think it reflects back the heat rather - not good at my age.  I have got used to it though.  Found it everso hot to begin with.   The one big advantage is that it is a 6 footer - great for streching out in.

We have a divan bed, I can highly recommend it, it is a Millbrook pocket sprung bed and is fantastically comfortable. We bought it about 9 years ago when I had a bad back due to pregnancy and it was expensive but is so worth the money! Have never found any other beds to be as comfortable.

we have a bed in a bag memory foam mattress - its fab but it can be quite hot (OH doesn't notice but I do LOL). I have it on a leather bedstead and its great - had a divan for years and hated valance sheets with a vengeance !!

Got a memory foam one and a memory foam pillow lovely, but we do find its warmer than a normal one, but sleep no problem!!

Well the frames are ordered, we went for metal bedsteads for us and the children, think we will try out some mattresses when we are over in the UK next :-)

Has anyone got a relyon mattress?
- By huskypup [us] Date 24.06.08 11:37 UTC
Don't know about Relyon but I love my Staples 12 pocket spring bed.  It is the comfiest bed I have ever slept on.  I tried out so many bed you would not believe it but I finally found the perfect bed that suits me and the OH.  Bliss :D
