My 13 week old bulldog has just been bitten by another dog and im wondering what to do with the puncture wound. He only has one small wound that is just like a nail in a car tyre. I have cleaned it with some salty warm water but it is still bleeding a small amount. What do I do with the cut now? Thanks for any advice.

Personally, I would get him checked by the vet, especially as he's so young. You can't tell by looking how much damage has been done under the skin and how clean the wound is (ie, may need anti-biotics) ?
Keep it as clean as you can until you see a vet. A dogs mouth is not the cleanest of places and he may need AB's as mistifflover has said.
Thanks for your quick responses.
I will be seeing the vet in the morning, untill then is salty warm water the best thing to use to keep it clean?

Yes, definitely. Keep it bathed and try to keep it open to allow any infection out.

I would say a vet job, twiggy my 6 month old bulldog was biten by accident by my staffie x, ( well they where playing rough and she just punctured the skin)
clean with saline soultion until it heals up.
Good luck with your bullie,
My mums dog had a puncture wound from a fight with another dog and it had to be stapled, and it got infected due to bacterial saliva dogs have, mum tried sugar and soap to get all the gunk out before the vets, like a river of puss was horrid. it was on his shoulder so wouldnt have healed on its own due to movement of him walking it couldnt close. Your poor puppy i hope it doesnt affect him mentally as well as physical, i would have gone mental at the other dogs owner, poor baby. I have a soft spot for bulldogs i luv em, british bulldogs mostly but am bulldogs are nice too.
Hope he is ok

I would clean it out with peroxide, then wipe it with alcohol wipes and put polysporin on it till you get him checked out.
Junior got bit from Taz- nasty puncture on the head and under the jaw which we cleaned out this way- I did that 4 times a day for 2 days then just cleaned with alcohol wipes after and polysporin and he healed rather nicely :) they started fighting cause Tiva came into heat- They were always fine before till that last one and it was just a warning on Taz's part and Taz was fixed- long story...

Dollface,
OP is in Britain. We can only get antibiotic anything from Doctors or Vets, they are only available here on prescription ;) it's strange to us that they can be easily bought over the counter overseas ;)

Apart from getting the wound healed it is a very young age to be bitten and a critical learning period...try to get your pup mixing with lots of extremely friendly dogs so it doesn't have any lasting effects.
Thanks for all your help. I kept him clean and its closed up now so hopefully ok now but vet has given him some tabs for if it does get infected. Also took him for a walk and he was really good, was as if it never happened, so hopefully he's forgotten it ever happened!
