Hi All,
I just got a lovely box of free samples from CSJ today, so quite excited to try them on my dog.
Well, she refused to even eat a few of each as a treat, so I left them down, and a few minutes later she ate them, but 5 mins after that, they came straight back up.
Is this just an initial reaction? Or should I not give it to her again?
Gawd bless CSJ for the samples anyway, I'm so glad I didn't get a huge sack of the stuff!

Sounds to me like she gave you her opinion of CSJ :-)

Maybe it was just too much of a new thing in 1 go?? It's worth trying to gradually introduce the food over a few days if you want to try her on it.
My old dog has just vomited up some treats that my mum felt bribed into giving him (he's good at a 'i'm starving face'), the treats never effect him normally but he's used to having just 1 a day instead of 5 in 1 go!!
LOL Cairnmania! Thankyou both for your replies.

Without knowing which samples they were it's hard to comment ? What was your dog on before? and why did you change?
I always make the change slowly, just in case there's a problem ;)
Having said that, there are loads of reasons why a dog would be sick - not necessarily because of the food ;) was it soon after eating? (regurgitated) or was it real vomit?
My pup has been known to regurgitate her food after eating it too fast (JWB) and immediately consume it again with obvious enjoyment

EEEEW !
Thanks Dill,
CSJ very kindly sent me a lovely box full of samples of all their foods, plus some treats. I opened all the packets and offered the dog one little biscuit thingy from each, just to taste, but she turned her face away. I put them in her dish, where she finally ate them, but they came back up just a few minutes later...she's mainly on Butchers Tripe Mix tinned, with some raw chunks and bones (gives her terrible wind!). It wasn't at all digested...and she didn't want to eat it again! Isn't there a quote in Shakespeare about "like a dog returning to its vomit"?

I must admit my Labs were not impressed with csj either. I bought "that'll do" for mine, thinking that being Labs they'll eat anything. Well, they ate it but only just. My boy kind of just picked at it and kept looking at me as if to say "have I really got to eat this!" I stuck with it for a while but they weren't keen at all so I gave it to a shelter.
I have now got them on skinners with a weeny bit of wet food mixed in and they scoff the lot and seem to really enjoy it.
I'm sure the food is quite alright, but mine just didn't seem to like the taste much.

To be honest, if she isn't used to dry food then it would be better to soak it at first with warm water and then put less and less water until she's eating dry rather than jumping straight in ;) Don't forget as well, dry food is more concentrated than wet so you need far less of it ;)

Mine are on 'Natural That'll Do' (no artificial preservatives, only natural ones ;) ) and they absolutely love it :-D they look so good on it I'm tempted to try it myself, it smells lovely LOL
