We have  bitch due on the 24th june, on checking her over today i noticed at her rear end of her belly she seems to have grown a extra teat next to another 1 is this comman as i have never seen it before, it does not look sore but is small compared to the rest.

Several of my bitches have had a small, extra teat next to each of the last pair of teats.  Does she have a matching one on the other side?

yeah one seems to be growing there as well just not as formed as the other one

I wouldn't worry about it - like I said, several of my bitches have had these.

When my girl was pregnant with her first litter, we noticed this big 'growth' next to a teat. I was worried so took her to the vet as it didnt look like a normal teat being twice the size of a normal one. The vet assured me not to be worried and that if it wasnt a teat the pups wouldnt nurse on it as they'd soon know there would be no milk in it. As it turned out it turned out to be a double sized oval teat which we now affectionally called 'ubertit'  LOL  2 puppies feed from that teat at the same time! So she has 11 teats

While we're on the subject of nipples :-) how many is a male dog supposed to have?  Puppy boy has 4 on one side, 5 on t'other....is this right? Thought it was meant to be equal.

LOl :D my bitch has more on one side then the other- weird ;) She raised puppies with no problems, mind you she really sucked at keeping their lil bums clean, guess I can't blame her but it became my job :(
